About Perampil 2 Tablet

Perampil 2 Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called anticonvulsants or anti-epileptics used to treat epilepsy. Epilepsy is a sudden rush of electricity in the brain. In epilepsy, the brain's electrical rhythms become imbalanced, resulting in recurrent seizures, sometimes leading unconscious state. 

Perampil 2 Tablet contains 'Perampanel'. It prevents seizures or epilepsy by blocking a receptor in the brain known as the glutamate receptor, thereby suppressing the brain's abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells.

In some cases, Perampil 2 Tablet may cause common side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, increased or decreased appetite, weight gain, fatigue, and nausea. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Perampil 2 Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy and in children below four years. Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Perampil 2 Tablet may cause drowsiness and dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Perampil 2 Tablet as it could lead to increased dizziness and drowsiness. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience suicidal tendencies. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medicines to rule out any side effects.

  • Atkins diet (high fat and controlled carbohydrates) is recommended for adolescents and adults.
  • Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.

Perampil 2 Tablet may cause weight gain, so try to maintain a proper weight by following a healthy diet and exercising regularly.

Do not discontinue Perampil 2 Tablet without consulting your doctor. To treat your condition effectually, continue taking Perampil 2 Tablet for as long as prescribed. Do not be reluctant to speak with your doctor if you feel any difficulty while taking Perampil 2 Tablet; your doctor will reduce the dose gradually to avoid precipitating seizures.

Avoid conceiving while on treatment with Perampil 2 Tablet as it is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Use a reliable method of contraception during treatment with Perampil 2 Tablet and for one month after the last dose of Perampil 2 Tablet.

Perampil 2 Tablet might make certain hormonal contraceptives, such as levonorgestrel less effective, affecting contraception. Therefore, you are advised to use other forms of contraception such as coil or condom while on treatment with Perampil 2 Tablet. Discuss with your doctor if you have any concerns.
