About Picosoft Kid Syrup
Picosoft Kid Syrup belongs to the group of medicines called laxatives used to treat constipation associated with piles, anal fissure, hernia, cardiovascular disorder, endoscopy, bowel clearance before radioscopy, pre/post-operative conditions, elderly and bed-ridden patients. Constipation refers to infrequent bowel movements in which the stools are often dry, painful, and hard to pass.
Picosoft Kid Syrup consists of 'Sodium picosulphate' that prevents the absorption of water in the colon/intestine, thereby stimulating the propulsive (pushing forward) activity, which in turn promotes accumulation of water providing stool can pass with ease. Thus, it relieves constipation.
You can take Picosoft Kid Syrup with or without food. You are advised to take Picosoft Kid Syrup for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. You may experience certain common side-effects such as diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort, pain, or cramps in some cases. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.
To treat your condition effectually, continue taking Picosoft Kid Syrup for as long as your doctor has prescribed. Drink plenty of fluids (at least 6-8 glasses) while taking Picosoft Kid Syrup to prevent dehydration. Do not take Picosoft Kid Syrup for more than a week as it might cause dependency on Picosoft Kid Syrup for a bowel movement. Talk to your doctor if you notice any sudden changes in bowel habits that persist for over 2 weeks. Consult your doctor before taking Picosoft Kid Syrup if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Picosoft Kid Syrup should not be given to children as safety and effectiveness have not been established.

Do not take Picosoft Kid Syrup for more than a week as it might lead to dependency on Picosoft Kid Syrup for a bowel movement. Taking Picosoft Kid Syrup for longer durations might also cause dehydration, imbalance of fluids and salts in the body, affecting the tightness of muscles in the intestine. If your bowel movement is irregular even after taking Picosoft Kid Syrup for a week, consult your doctor.
Picosoft Kid Syrup does not help with weight loss. It does not reduce the absorption of calories or nutrients. Picosoft Kid Syrup may cause dehydration which feels like weight loss. Drink enough liquids to prevent dehydration.
Consult your doctor before taking Picosoft Kid Syrup with other medicines as Picosoft Kid Syrup may increase the rate of gastrointestinal transit, and this may affect the absorption of other orally administered medicines given simultaneously.
Overuse or prolonged use of Picosoft Kid Syrup may cause dehydration. Severe dehydration may cause weakness, tremors, fainting, and blurry vision. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms. Drink enough fluids to avoid dehydration.
Diarrhea might occur if Picosoft Kid Syrup is taken in larger doses. Drink lots of fluids and eat food rich in fiber if you experience diarrhea. If you find blood in stools (tarry stools) or experience excess diarrhea consult your doctor. Do not take anti-diarrheal medicine on your own.
Constipation happens when the normal actions of muscle in the large intestine get slowed down, which means the waste part (stools) did not get easily eliminated from the body.
