About Rabopep O Tablet

Rabopep O Tablet is a gastrointestinal medication, primarily used to treat nausea, vomiting, stomach ulcers, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, and erosive oesophagitis (acid-related damage to the lining of the oesophagus). Rabopep O Tablet is also used to treat infections caused by Helicobacter pylori and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. GERD is a condition that occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). Zollinger Ellison syndrome is a rare condition in which a gastrin-secreting tumour of the pancreas causes excessive acid production leading to peptic ulcers.

Rabopep O Tablet contains two medicines: Rabeprazole and Ondansetron. Rabeprazole belongs to the group of drugs called ‘proton pump inhibitors.’ It blocks the action of the gastric proton pump that is responsible for the production of acid in the stomach. This reduces the amount of acid produced, heals the ulcers, and prevents the formation of new ulcers. Ondansetron belongs to the class of anti-emetics (prevents vomiting). It works by blocking the action of serotonin (chemical messenger) that triggers nausea and vomiting.

Take Rabopep O Tablet as advised by the doctor. Your doctor will advise the appropriate dose that suits your medical condition. Common side effects of Rabopep O Tablet include nausea, vomiting, constipation, headache, fatigue, diarrhoea, sore throat, and abdominal pain. These side effects may not occur in every patient using this medication and differ individually. If the side effects persist longer or worsen, please seek a doctor’s advice.

Let your doctor know if you are sensitive or allergic to Rabopep O Tablet or any other medications. Before using Rabopep O Tablet , let your doctor know if you have any liver, kidney or heart diseases, and gastrointestinal problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using Rabopep O Tablet . Avoid alcohol intake while using Rabopep O Tablet since it can increase acid production in the stomach. Ondansetron in Rabopep O Tablet is not recommended for children below four years of age.

Uses of Rabopep O Tablet

Nausea, vomiting, stomach ulcers, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, erosive oesophagitis, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Directions for Use

Swallow Rabopep O Tablet as a whole with a glass of water. You can take it with or without food at regular intervals, as prescribed by the doctor. Do not crush, chew or break it.

Let your doctor know if you are sensitive to Rabopep O Tablet or its components. Rabopep O Tablet should be used with caution and only under doctor’s supervision if you have stomach/intestinal problems, liver, kidney or heart diseases, recent abdominal surgery, risk of bone fractures and autoimmune diseases like lupus. Long term treatment with Rabopep O Tablet may increase the risk of fractures of the hip, spine, and wrist. Hence, inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis, bone-related problems, or taking any corticosteroids before starting Rabopep O Tablet . Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or a nursing mother before starting Rabopep O Tablet . Avoid alcohol intake while using Rabopep O Tablet since it can increase acid production in the stomach.

  • Manage stress, eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, and get plenty of sleep.
  • Limit taking high fibre foods, foods and drinks that contain chocolate, alcohol, caffeine, fructose, or sorbitol, carbonated drinks, fried, and fatty foods. 
  • Do not have large meals at a time, instead try having small and simpler meals at regular intervals, including fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet.
  • Practice yoga and recreation techniques to manage your emotional stress.
  • If you are lactose intolerant, avoid using dairy products since it can worsen your stomach discomforts.

Rabopep O Tablet works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach and blocks the action of certain chemical messengers that trigger nausea and vomiting. Thus, Rabopep O Tablet relieves stomach ulcers, heartburn, GERD, nausea, vomiting and other gastrointestinal discomforts.

Rabopep O Tablet should be used with caution and only under doctor’s supervision if you have any liver, kidney or heart diseases, stomach and intestinal problems, recent abdominal surgery, Vitamin B12 deficiency, risk of bone fractures and autoimmune diseases like lupus.

Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better even after taking Rabopep O Tablet for 14 days. Do not take Rabopep O Tablet for longer durations unless prescribed by the doctor. If Rabopep O Tablet is prescribed for longer durations, a regular check-up is advised.

Antacids do not interfere with the absorption of Rabopep O Tablet . However, it is advised to take antacid and Rabopep O Tablet at different times. Please seek medical advice on how to use other medicines like antacids while using Rabopep O Tablet .

Diarrhoea might be a side-effect of Rabopep O Tablet . Drink lots of fluids and eat foods rich in fibre if you experience diarrhoea. If you find blood in stools (tarry stools) or experience excess diarrhoea, consult your doctor. Prolonged intake of Rabopep O Tablet is linked with a greater risk of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea, so if you develop diarrhoea that does not improve, immediately consult a doctor.

On long term treatment, Rabeprazole in Rabopep O Tablet may increase the risk of fractures of the hip, spine, and wrist. Inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis, bone-related problems, or taking any corticosteroids. Your doctor may suggest supplements like Calcium citrate and Vitamin D.

Rabeprazole in Rabopep O Tablet may cause low Vitamin B12 levels on long term usage. Your doctor may adjust the dose of Rabopep O Tablet accordingly and may also suggest Vitamin B12 supplements.
