About Scanil 20Gm Cream
Scanil 20Gm Cream belongs to the group of medications called 'dermatological agents' primarily indicated for managing scars from surgery, burns, stretch marks, acne, and breast amputations. The scar is a brown or pale pink patch of skin that marks the site where the skin has healed.
Scanil 20Gm Cream is a combination medication containing Extractum Cepae Cepalin, Heparin and Allantoin. Extractum Cepae Cepalin is an anti-scar medicine that works by inhibiting the activity of a chemical (PGF beta-1) that is involved in the inflammation (swelling) and hypertrophic scarring process after injury. Heparin has anti-inflammatory properties. It aids in the retention of moisture in the scar tissue. Allantoin is a keratolytic agent that removes dead skin cells. It also has the effect of quickening wound healing and softening the skin. As a result, Scanil 20Gm Cream effectively promotes healing and elasticity to hasten the fading process.
Scanil 20Gm Cream should only be used externally. Use this medication for the recommended amount of time to get the best results. Itching, redness, and tingling sensations are common side effects of Scanil 20Gm Cream. These side effects do not require medical attention and will fade with time. If these side effects persist for more than a week, you should seek medical attention.
If you are allergic to any of the contents of Scanil 20Gm Cream, you should avoid using it. Open wounds, unhealed wounds, and mucous membranes (eyes, nose, mouth, and genital areas) should not be treated with a Scanil 20Gm Cream. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should use Scanil 20Gm Cream with caution. Scanil 20Gm Cream should not be used in children under the age of one year. Do not use any other topical creams with Scanil 20Gm Cream without your doctor's notice.

Scanil 20Gm Cream contains Extractum Cepae Cepalin, Heparin and Allantoin. Extractum Cepae-Cepalin works by inhibiting the activity of a chemical (PGF beta-1) that is involved in the inflammation and hypertrophic scarring process after injury. Heparin loosens the skin structure and aids in the retention of moisture in the scar tissue. On the other hand, Allantoin removes dead skin cells and also promotes the quickening of wound healing and softening of the skin. As a result, Scanil 20Gm Cream effectively promotes healing and elasticity to accelerate the fading process.
Scar treatment can take several weeks or months. The length of treatment with Scanil 20Gm Cream is determined by the extent or size of the scar. Please consult with your doctor about the duration of your treatment.
Scanil 20Gm Cream should not be used on unhealed wounds or open wounds. Also, avoid using Scanil 20Gm Cream on mucous membranes (eyes, nose, mouth, and genital areas).

Disease/Condition Glossary
Scars: A scar is a brown or pale pink patch of skin that marks the area where the skin has healed. Scars can form as a result of burns, wounds, scrapes, acne, amputations, or surgery. Scars are classed as keloid scars, hypertrophic scars, or contractures. Keloid scars are circular, thick, and irregular scars that form outside the boundaries of a wound. Hypertrophic scars are similar to keloid scars in appearance; however, they form within the wound's borders. Contractures are scars that emerge when a larger skin region is wounded and destroyed, such as after surgery.
