Shelcal-CT Max Soft Gelatin Capsule 15's belongs to a class of medications called ‘Nutritional Supplements’ used to treat nutritional deficiencies. It is primarily used to treat, improve, control, and prevent various complications or long term diseases. It is used to treat anaemia, respiratory illnesses, brain, and spinal cord disorders, heart diseases, kidney diseases, skin problems, hormonal disorders, and immune system problems.

Shelcal-CT Max Soft Gelatin Capsule 15's contains Methylcobalamin, Calcitriol, Calcium carbonate, Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), Boron, Folic acid, Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Methylcobalamin, a form of vitamin B12, protects the nerves from damage and promotes blood cell's production. Calcitriol (synthetic vitamin D) and Calcium carbonate help promote bone health and treat calcium deficiency. Boron is a mineral that helps in building strong bones and improving learning abilities, especially in children.  Folic Acid is also known as folate or vitamin B9. It helps in producing blood (hemoglobin) in the body. DHA and EPA are omega-3 fatty acids (oils) which reduce excess cholesterol levels in the body, thereby keeping heart, brain and nerves healthy.

You should take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Shelcal-CT Max Soft Gelatin Capsule 15's may cause side-effects such as nausea (feeling sick), vomiting (being sick), diarrhea, anorexia (loss of appetite), headache, weight loss, fatigue, bloating, and flatulence. These side-effects are usually mild and do not require any medical attention. However, if any of these side-effects persist or get worse, consult a doctor immediately.

Do not take Shelcal-CT Max Soft Gelatin Capsule 15's if you are allergic to any of its contents. Do not take Shelcal-CT Max Soft Gelatin Capsule 15's, if you have hypercalcemia (high levels of calcium in the blood), osteoporosis (thin and brittle bones), metastatic calcification (extra deposits of calcium in the body), kidney problems, cancer, undergone surgery, optic nerve damage, and you are not well due to high levels of vitamin D. Also, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Before taking Shelcal-CT Max Soft Gelatin Capsule 15's, inform your doctor if you are undergoing hemodialysis due to kidney problems and have a stent in the heart. Shelcal-CT Max Soft Gelatin Capsule 15's may alter calcium levels, so, it is recommended to monitor calcium levels regularly in the blood and urine. Inform your doctor immediately if you notice fever, increase in thirst and urination, dehydration, bedwetting, constipation, and stomach pain, as they may a sign of very high levels of calcium in your blood.  

Drug-Drug interactions: Shelcal-CT Max Soft Gelatin Capsule 15's may interact with other medicines containing vitamin D, blood thinners (warfarin, clopidogrel, and aspirin), antibiotics (chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin, lomefloxacin, norfloxacin, sparfloxacin, and tetracycline), anti-gout medication (colchicine), a medicine used to treat diabetes (metformin), antacids, medicines used to treat high blood pressure (bendroflumethiazide, chlorthalidone, indapamide, enalapril, losartan, and valsartan), a medicine used to treat thyroid deficiency (levothyroxine), a medicine used to treat cancer (fluorouracil), a medicine used to treat heart disease (digoxin), medicines containing iron or zinc, medicines used to treat osteoporosis, steroid medicines (hydrocortisone, prednisolone, and dexamethasone), medicines used to treat fits (phenytoin, phenobarbital, and primidone), and medicine used to treat high cholesterol (cholestyramine).

Drug-Food interactions: Do not take foods fortified with vitamin D and also avoid a high intake of dairy products such as milk, ghee, and cheese.

Drug-Disease interactions: Shelcal-CT Max Soft Gelatin Capsule 15's is not recommended for use in patients with bleeding disorders, hypercalcemia (high levels of calcium in the blood), metastatic calcification (extra deposits of calcium in the body), kidney problems, high blood pressure, cancer, optic nerve damage, and high levels of vitamin D.

• Keep a check on your weight. Shed excess weight by exercising regularly.
• Do not take stress as it may show an effect on your eating habits.
• Quit smoking and limit alcohol intake.
• Undergo health check-ups regularly as advised by your doctor.

• Shelcal-CT Max Soft Gelatin Capsule 15's is not indicate in patients with or with history ok kidney stones, as it may increase the chance of formation of kidney stones. Consult your doctor for further advice.
• Regular monitoring of calcium levels may be advised by your doctor.
