About Sotret Gel

Sotret Gel belongs to a class of drugs called retinoids (synthetic vitamin A). Sotret Gel is used to treat acne (spots). Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when hair follicles are blocked with dead skin cells and oil. Acne occurs due to overactive sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin. The sebum inhibits sebaceous glands and stops oil from flowing out freely causing an accumulation of sebum under the skin which increases the growth of acne-causing bacteria.

Sotret Gel contains 'isotretinoin' a form of vitamin A that works by reducing sebum (skin’s natural oil) production cells in the skin's surface by decreasing the activity and size of sebaceous glands. Thereby, unblocks pores and kills acne-causing bacteria.

Sotret Gel is for external use only. Use Sotret Gel as prescribed. Your doctor will advise you on how often you need to use Sotret Gel based on your medical condition. Some people may experience dryness of skin, redness, skin irritation, pain or skin flaking. Most of these side effects of Sotret Gel do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to isotretinoin, dyes, preservatives, or any foods, inform your doctor before using Sotret Gel. Do not use Sotret Gel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as it may cause adverse effects on the baby. You are advised to use reliable contraceptive methods while using Sotret Gel to prevent pregnancy. Avoid sun exposure while using Sotret Gel as it may make skin more sensitive to sunlight and cause sunburn. Do not apply Sotret Gel on cuts, grazes, broken or sunburn skin. Avoid smoking or going near open flame after applying Sotret Gel as it has flammable nature.

You are recommended to apply Sotret Gel to all the areas where spots occur and not just each spot. Wash your hands before and after applying Sotret Gel. Avoid contact of Sotret Gel with nose, mouth, eyes or ears. In case Sotret Gel comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly.
