About Stemetil Injection 10 x 1 ml

Stemetil Injection 10 x 1 ml belongs to a class of antipsychotic medications called phenothiazines used to reduce symptoms of major mental disorders such as schizophrenia, and, acute mania. It is also used as a short-term treatment for anxiety. Additionally, it is used to treat symptoms of nausea and vomiting, and vertigo (dizziness) due to inner ear disorders such as Meniere’s syndrome or labyrinthitis. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that affects the ability of a person to feel, think and behave properly. Mania is a mental condition that causes intense excitement, high energy, and delusions (misbeliefs). Anxiety is a mental health disorder associated with fear, worry, and excessive nervousness that may interfere with one’s daily activities.

Stemetil Injection 10 x 1 ml contains Prochlorperazine which decreases the action of dopamine (a chemical messenger involved in transmitting messages between brain cells) in the brain and helps to control psychotic symptoms in Schizophrenia. Stemetil Injection 10 x 1 ml has a calming effect on people suffering from anxiety or mania. Also, Stemetil Injection 10 x 1 ml works by inhibiting dopamine receptors that stimulate the vomiting centre (chemoreceptor trigger zone – CTZ) located in the brain.
