Sucrafil D Suspension 100 ml belongs to a class of medication called gastrointestinal agents used to treat duodenal ulcers, nausea, and vomiting. Duodenal ulcer is a peptic ulcer that develops in the duodenum (first part of the small intestine) due to erosion of the stomach's protective lining. Nausea is a feeling of uneasiness in the stomach that often comes before vomiting. On the other hand, vomiting is the forcible voluntary or involuntary emptying of stomach contents through the mouth.
Sucrafil D Suspension 100 ml is a combination of two drugs: Sucralfate (gastrointestinal protectant) and Domperidone (antinausea agent). Sucralfate belongs to the protectants class which forms a protective layer over the ulcer and protects the stomach from an ulcer due to excess stomach acid, thereby healing it. Domperidone belongs to the dopamine antagonist class that works by blocking dopamine receptors that stimulate the vomiting center (chemoreceptor trigger zone – CTZ) located in the brain. Together they prevent ulcers, nausea, and vomiting.
