About Telsar Beta 50 Tablet

Telsar Beta 50 Tablet belongs to the class of antihypertensive agents used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Hypertension is a condition in which the blood exerts increased pressure on the walls of blood vessels leading to high blood pressure. Symptoms include headache, dizziness, nosebleeds, changes in vision, chest pain, weakness and dyspnea (shortness of breath).

Telsar Beta 50 Tablet contains Metoprolol tartrate (beta-blocker) and telmisartan (angiotensin receptor blocker). Metoprolol tartrate reduces blood pressure by allowing the blood to flow more smoothly. Telmisartan works by blocking the angiotensin II receptor, relaxing the blood vessels and lowering the blood pressure. Together, Telsar Beta 50 Tablet helps in reducing the raised blood pressure.

You are advised to take Telsar Beta 50 Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as increased potassium level in the blood (hyperkalemia), headache, nausea, dizziness, weakness, and slow heart rate. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Do not take Telsar Beta 50 Tablet if you are pregnant as it may cause fetal harm. Consult your doctor before taking Telsar Beta 50 Tablet if you are breastfeeding. Telsar Beta 50 Tablet is not recommended for children as efficacy and safety have not been established. Telsar Beta 50 Tablet may cause dizziness, so drive with caution. Avoid consuming alcohol with Telsar Beta 50 Tablet as it might cause increased dizziness. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking and your health condition to rule out any interactions.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Hypertension: The blood exerts increased pressure on the walls of blood vessels leading to hypertension. This condition can lead to hardened arteries (blood vessels), decreasing the blood and oxygen flow to the heart. Raised blood pressure can cause chest pain (angina) and heart attack (when blood supply to the heart is blocked). Additionally, high blood pressure also causes brain damage (stroke) and kidney failure. Symptoms of high blood pressure include headache, dizziness, nose bleed, changes in vision, chest pain, weakness and dyspnoea (shortness of breath). However, most of the time, the signs and symptoms of hypertension are none.
