About Tido Tablet 10's

Tido Tablet 10's belongs to a class of medication called 'antibiotics' used to treat several bacterial infections of the urinary tract, vagina, skin, blood, nose, throat, gums, chest, and lungs. Also, Tido Tablet 10's may be used to treat infections such as giardiasis and amoebiasis (stomach infections), and trichomoniasis (genital infection) caused by protozoa. A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grows in the body and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiple very quickly. Tido Tablet 10's does not work against infections caused by the virus.

Tido Tablet 10's is a combination of two antibiotics, namely: Doxycycline and Tinidazole. Doxycycline works by inhibiting the production of essential proteins necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply and increase in numbers. Tinidazole works by damaging the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria and protozoa and inhibits the formation of new DNA essential for bacteria's survival. Thereby, it kills micro-organisms and prevents the spread of infection.

You are advised to take Tido Tablet 10's for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. You may experience vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, stomach pain or cramps, headache, or loss of appetite in some cases. Most of these side effects of Tido Tablet 10's do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Tido Tablet 10's or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Avoid taking Tido Tablet 10's and consult a doctor before taking Tido Tablet 10's, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as it may harm the baby. Tinidazole may affect fertility in both men and women. Therefore, please consult a doctor if you are planning for pregnancy before taking Tido Tablet 10's. Tido Tablet 10's is not recommended for children below 12 years as the safety and effectiveness were not established. Drive only if you are alert as Tido Tablet 10's may cause drowsiness, weakness, or numbness. Avoid exposure to strong sunlight as Tido Tablet 10's may make the skin more sensitive to sunburn than normal.

It works by inhibiting the production of essential proteins necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply and increase in numbers. Tinidazole is also a broad-spectrum antibiotic that damages the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria and protozoa and inhibits new DNA formation. Thereby, kills microorganisms and preventing the spread of bacterial infection.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Take probiotics after completing the full course of Tido Tablet 10's to restore some healthy bacteria in the intestines that may have been killed. Taking probiotics after antibiotic treatment can reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. Certain fermented foods like cheese, yogurt, kombucha, sauerkraut, and kimchi can help to restore the good bacteria of the intestine.
  • Include fiber-rich foods, as they can be easily digested by your gut bacteria, which helps stimulate their growth. Thus, fiber-rich foods may help restore healthy gut bacteria after a course of antibiotics. Whole grains such as brown rice and whole-grain bread should be included in your diet.
  • Make sure you drink plenty of water or other fluids every day while you are taking Tido Tablet 10's.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption as it may increase adverse effects.

Special Advise

  • Tido Tablet 10's may rarely cause abnormal liver function tests. Please consult a doctor if you any concerns regarding this.
  • Tido Tablet 10's may cause live bacterial vaccines (such as typhoid vaccine) to not work as well. Do not have any immunization/vaccinations while using this medication unless your doctor tells you to.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Bacterial infection: It is a condition in which harmful bacteria grow in the body and cause infection. It can target any part of the body and multiply very quickly. Bacteria come in three basic shapes, namely spherical, rod, or spiral-shaped. Bacteria may be gram-positive (have thick cell walls) or gram-negative (do not have cell walls). Appropriate tests are done to identify bacterial strains and based on the results, proper medication is prescribed. Some common symptoms of bacterial infection include cough, fever, and tiredness.
