Toflox Eye Drop belongs to the class of medicines called antibiotics used to treat bacterial eye infections including conjunctivitis and ulcers of the cornea. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is a common bacterial eye infection associated with the inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid.
Toflox Eye Drop contains Ofloxacin which works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (bacterial enzyme) involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thereby, kills bacteria and clears infection.
Use Toflox Eye Drop as prescribed by your doctor. Toflox Eye Drop is only for use in eyes. You are advised to use Toflox Eye Drop for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience dry eyes, blurred vision, eye discomfort, eye redness, mild itching, or irritation in the eye. Most of these side effects of Toflox Eye Drop do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to Toflox Eye Drop or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Toflox Eye Drop should be used for children only in doses as advised by the doctor. Toflox Eye Drop works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (bacterial enzyme) involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thereby, kills bacteria and clears the infection.
You are not recommended to wear contact lenses while using Toflox Eye Drop as it contains benzalkonium chloride, a preservative that changes the colour of contact lens as it may be absorbed by soft contact lens. Benzalkonium chloride also causes irritation in the eye especially if you have disorders of cornea (transparent layer at the front of eye) or dry eyes. Therefore, you are advised to remove contact lenses before using Toflox Eye Drop and reinsert them after 15 minutes after using Toflox Eye Drop. Also, inform your doctor if you experience pain, stinging or abnormal sensation in the eye after using Toflox Eye Drop.
Toflox Eye Drop may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after using. Therefore, you are recommended to wait until your vision is clear before driving or operating machinery.
Toflox Eye Drop is not used to treat fungal infection in the eye. Toflox Eye Drop is only used to treat bacterial eye infections.
You are not recommended to stop using Toflox Eye Drop without consulting your doctor as it may worsen the infection. Therefore, use Toflox Eye Drop for as long as your doctor has prescribed it and if you experience any difficulty while using Toflox Eye Drop, please consult your doctor.
