About Tripletop Ointment

Tripletop Ointment is a combination medicine used to treat psoriasis. Additionally, Tripletop Ointment may also be used to treat seborrheic dermatitis. Psoriasis is a skin condition in which skin cells multiply up to 10 times faster than usual, leading to skin build-up into bumpy (uneven) red patches covered with white scales. Seborrheic dermatitis is a skin condition which causes an itchy rash with flaky scales.

Tripletop Ointment is a combination of three medicines: Clobetasol, Coal tar, and Salicylic acid. Clobetasol works by inhibiting the release of chemical messengers that cause inflammation and redness. Coal tar and salicylic acid help break down keratin clumps, remove dead skin cells, and soften the skin. Together, Tripletop Ointment helps in treating psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis.

You are advised to use Tripletop Ointment for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as burning sensation, irritation, itching and redness at the site of application. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Do not use Tripletop Ointment if you had a skin reaction or irritation to any steroid medicine. Consult your doctor before using Tripletop Ointment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use Tripletop Ointment in more than prescribed doses or on a large area of skin for a longer duration, as it may cause adverse effects. Do not wrap or cover the treated area with a bandage unless advised by your doctor. Do not apply Tripletop Ointment on children’s skin unless prescribed by the doctor.
