About Trofentyl OTFC Tablet

Trofentyl OTFC Tablet belongs to a class of medicines known as 'opioid analgesics,' primarily used to relieve pain. It is used to treat breakthrough pain (sudden episodes of pain occurring despite treatment with pain medication) in cancer patients. Pain can be temporary (acute) or long-lasting (chronic) in nature. Acute pain is caused by damage to the tissues of the muscle, bone, or other organs for a short time. Chronic pain lasts for a long duration and is caused due to pathologies like nerve damage and osteoarthritis.

Trofentyl OTFC Tablet contains Fentanyl. It works by blocking a chemical messenger in the brain responsible for causing pain. Hence, changing the way the brain and nervous system respond to pain.

Trofentyl OTFC Tablet should be used as recommended. Trofentyl OTFC Tablet may cause certain side effects such as dizziness, sleepiness, increased or decreased blood pressure, and irregular heartbeat in some cases. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently. 

Trofentyl OTFC Tablet should be avoided if you are allergic to opioids or any ingredients of Trofentyl OTFC Tablet.  Inform your doctor before taking Trofentyl OTFC Tablet if you have respiratory disorders, heart diseases, high blood pressure, and liver or kidney disease. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Trofentyl OTFC Tablet as it could lead to increased dizziness. Do not take Trofentyl OTFC Tablet for a prolonged time as it may lead to mental or physical dependence on Trofentyl OTFC Tablet. This medicine is not recommended for children below 18 years of age. Do not use this medicine if you have used an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days, as it this combination may cause serious interaction. Blood pressure and cardiovascular (heart) status should be monitored closely during the treatment with Trofentyl OTFC Tablet, especially in people affected with high blood pressure and a history of heart failure.

  • Maintain healthy weight and exercise daily.
  • Following a low-calcium diet can help reduce hypercalcemia symptoms.
  • Maintaining adequate hydration will help you control your magnesium levels and improve your general health.
  • Maintain a diet high in magnesium-rich foods such as spinach, almonds, chickpeas and brown rice.
  • Limit your alcohol intake because too much of it lowers your magnesium levels.
  • Plan blood testing on a regular basis to monitor magnesium levels.
  • Consume controlled amounts of salt to raise sodium levels.
  • Eat fresh fruits like apples, berries, oranges, mangoes, and bananas.
  • Include fresh vegetables like broccoli, sweet potatoes, beets, okra, spinach, peppers, carrots, and edamame.

Inform your doctor if you have respiratory disorders, heart diseases, high blood pressure, and liver or kidney disease or hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). Do not take Trofentyl OTFC Tablet for a prolonged time, Trofentyl OTFC Tablet contains fentanyl that may lead to mental or physical dependence on Trofentyl OTFC Tablet. Do not take Trofentyl OTFC Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as it may cause adverse effects on the baby. Trofentyl OTFC Tablet is not recommended for children below 18 years of age.
