About Vitrex Capsule
Vitrex Capsule belongs to a class of medicines called photosensitizers. It is used along with ultraviolet light for the treatment of vitiligo. Vitiligo is a skin condition in which the skin loses colour (melanocytes). This can result in discoloured patches in different areas of the body, including the skin, hair, and mucous membranes.
Vitrex Capsule contains “trioxsalen”, which is a photosensitive medication used along with UV-A rays. It works by activating certain skin cells (melanocytes) and helps to re-pigment the discoloured and white patches.
Vitrex Capsule should be taken as advised by your physician. The dose and course of this medicine will be decided by your doctor based on your health condition. Vitrex Capsule may cause certain common side effects like erythema (skin redness), blisters on the skin, edema (swelling), and itching. These side effects resolve on their own. However, if it persists, stop using Vitrex Capsule and consult your physician.
Vitrex Capsule should not be taken if you are allergic to it. Inform to your physician if you are using any medicines other than Vitrex Capsule and if you are pregnant/breastfeeding. Vitrex Capsule should be used with caution in patients who are allergic to sunlight, porphyria, heart/ liver disease, stomach problems, cataracts, skin cancers and lupus erythematosus condition.

- Vitrex Capsule may cause vision problems, so periodically consult your eye physician.
- Vitrex Capsule may be taken 2 to 4 hours before exposure to UV light. In this case, before each treatment, cover the skin for at least 24 hours, and after each treatment, cover the skin for at least 8 hours by wearing protective clothing.
- Protect lips and uncovered parts of the body with sunblock medications. Sunblock products (sunscreen lotions) should not be used on the areas of the skin that are to be treated. Use wraparound sunglasses.

This condition can affect the skin on any part of the body. It can also affect the hair and the inside of the mouth.
