About Voxila O 200mg/200mg Tablet
Voxila O 200mg/200mg Tablet belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections of the urinary tract (kidney and bladder). Voxila O 200mg/200mg Tablet helps relieve symptoms which may occur due to the infection such as painful urination, inability to control urine flow, and excessive urination at night. Urinary tract infections are caused by microbes such as bacteria and can affect the kidneys, bladder, and the tubes that run between them.
Voxila O 200mg/200mg Tablet is a combination of two drugs, namely: Ofloxacin (quinolone antibiotic) and Flavoxate (anti-spasmodic). Ofloxacin prevents the bacteria from repairing and reproducing themselves, thereby kills the bacteria. Flavoxate relaxes the muscles of the urinary bladder, thereby helps in preventing frequent urination, and excessive or uncontrolled urination.
In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, dizziness, and headache. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.
Voxila O 200mg/200mg Tablet contains ofloxacin which might increase the chances of developing tendinitis (swelling of a fibrous tissue that connects a bone to a muscle) or having a tendon rupture (tearing of a fibrous tissue that connects a bone to a muscle). Consult your doctor before taking Voxila O 200mg/200mg Tablet if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Voxila O 200mg/200mg Tablet may cause dizziness, so drive with caution. Voxila O 200mg/200mg Tablet should not be given to children as safety and efficacy have not been established. Avoid or limit the intake of alcohol while taking Voxila O 200mg/200mg Tablet as it could lead to increased dizziness.

Disease/Condition Glossary
Urinary tract infections (UTI): UTI is an infection in any part of the urinary system- the kidneys, bladder or urethra. A bladder infection may cause an increased urge to urinate, pelvic pain, pain during urination, and blood in the urine. A kidney infection may cause tenderness and pain in the back, fever, chills, nausea, and vomiting. The causes of UTI include a weak immune system, kidney stones, enlarged prostate, prolonged use of urinary catheters, diabetes, poor bathroom hygiene, sexual activity and age. Urinary tract infections are contagious and can spread to other body parts easily. Early diagnosis and treatment can help in preventing further complications.
