About XCEFT 200MG TABLET

XCEFT 200MG TABLET belongs to a group of drugs known as 'antibiotics' used to treat various bacterial infections. It effectively treats infections of the respiratory tract (pneumonia), urinary tract, ear, nose, and throat. It is also prescribed to treat STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases). Infectious or harmful bacteria can make you sick and reproduce quickly in your body. These harmful bacteria produce chemicals known as toxins, which can damage tissue and make you sick.

XCEFT 200MG TABLET contains Cefixime, Cloxacillin and Lactobacillus sporogenes. Cefixime works by blocking the chemical (mucopeptides) released by the outer layer (cell wall) of the bacteria and destroying the bacterial cell wall. Cloxacillin blocks the third and last stage of synthesis of bacteria's outer layer (cell wall). Lactobacillus sporogenes help balance the number of beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract (gut) to manage water loss (diarrhoea) due to antibiotics or infections.

You are advised to take XCEFT 200MG TABLET for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending upon your medical condition. You may experience certain common side effects, such as nausea, stomach pain, indigestion, and diarrhoea in some cases. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Before starting XCEFT 200MG TABLET, please inform your doctor if you have any allergy (against any antibiotic) or have kidney or liver problems. If prescribed by your doctor, XCEFT 200MG TABLET is safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding but use with caution. It will not work for viral infections such as the flu or the common cold. Using any antibiotic when you do not need it can make it less effective for future infections.

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interactions: XCEFT 200MG TABLET is known to interact with live vaccines (cholera vaccine, typhoid vaccine and Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (is used in a solution to stimulate the immune system in the treatment of bladder cancer and as a vaccine to prevent tuberculosis)), sulphonamides (trimethoprim), other antibiotics (azithromycin, gentamycin), blood thinners (warfarin), anti-gout which decreases uric acid (allopurinol, probenecid), and pain killer (aspirin).

Drug-Food Interactions: XCEFT 200MG TABLET is known to interact with alcohol. Avoid high-fat meals as this makes it harder for your body to absorb XCEFT 200MG TABLET. Eating grapefruit during antibiotics treatment can prevent the body from utilizing XCEFT 200MG TABLET properly. So, avoid intake of grapefruit or grapefruit juice with the antibiotic. Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Antibiotics can alter the useful bacteria in the stomach, which helps digestion. Therefore, you are advised to take foods rich in probiotics, such as yoghurt/curd, buttermilk, and cheese.
  • Eat fibre-rich food like whole grains, beans, lentils, berries, broccoli, peas, and bananas.
  • Avoid foods rich in calcium, grapefruit, and grapefruit juice, as they might hinder antibiotics' absorption.
  • Avoid the consumption of alcohol to treat your condition effectively.
  • Avoid the usage of tobacco.

Special Advise

  • Even if you feel better after taking XCEFT 200MG TABLET, do not stop until your doctor says so. This might cause the symptoms to reappear and make the infection difficult to treat due to antibiotic resistance.
  • Make sure you drink plenty of fluids when you are sick. This will, in general, help you clear out the infection faster, protect you from dehydration, and will help you overcome some unpleasant side effects of taking XCEFT 200MG TABLET.
  • Stop taking XCEFT 200MG TABLET and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash or swelling of the face, throat, tongue and breathing difficulties while taking it.
