- Benfotiamine, is a lipid-soluble and most effective metabolic precursor of thiamine (vitamin B1). It significantly increases the levels of thiamine in tissues and blood compared to the water-soluble forms. Deficiency of thiamine (vitamin B1) may cause cause diabetic neuropathy.
