Salidex Lotion belongs to a class of medicine known as an antifungal. Salidex Lotion is primarily used to treat dandruff and control seborrheic dermatitis (scaly patches and red skin on the scalp). Dandruff is a flaky, itchy scalp without signs of inflammation. It is unnecessary shedding of dead skin from the scalp.

Salidex Lotion is composed of two medicines: Ketoconazole (antifungal) and salicylic acid (keratolytic agent). Ketoconazole is an antifungal agent that works by preventing the growth of dandruff-causing fungi by avoiding them from forming their own protective covering. Salicylic acid belongs to a class of drugs known as keratoplastic, which works by removing dead cells from the skin’s top layer and slowing down skin cell's growth. This effect decreases scaling and dryness, thus relieving itching and cracking related to dandruff.

Take Salidex Lotion as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Salidex Lotion for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical conditions. You may experience warmth or a burning sensation, skin irritation, itching, and redness at the application site. Most of these side effects of Salidex Lotion do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Let your doctor know if you have any allergic reactions to Salidex Lotion or other medications. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult the doctor before starting Salidex Lotion. Salidex Lotion is not recommended for children below 12 years as the safety and efficacy of Salidex Lotion have not been established.

Avoid contact of topical Salidex Lotion with nose, mouth or eyes as it may irritate. Immediately stop using Salidex Lotion and inform your doctor if you may observe irritation or any other skin infection. In case Salidex Lotion comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult the doctor before starting Salidex Lotion. Salidex Lotion is not recommended for children below 12 years.

• Do not scratch the affected area of skin as it can spread the infection to other body parts.
• Avoid sharing towels, combs, bedsheets with others.
• Wash your bed sheets and towels regularly.
• Avoid or limit the intake of alcohol and caffeine.
• Leave the shampoo on for three to five minutes before rinsing.
• Do not scratch or pick your skin to avoid getting the affected area infected.
• Manage stress, eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly and sleep peacefully. 

Avoid contact of Salidex Lotion with nose, mouth or eyes. If Salidex Lotion comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. 

Dandruff: It is unnecessary shedding of dead skin from the scalp. Shedding skin is a normal sensation of the body as skin cells die and peel off. White flakes or scales are detectable as dandruff when there is excessive shedding of dead cells.

Seborrheic dermatitis: The skin disease causes scaly patches and red skin, mainly on the scalp. It can cause stubborn dandruff.
