Zolfer-XT Oral Suspension 150 ml belongs to a class of medications called 'haematinics' primarily used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) that occurs mainly due to poor diet, poor absorption of food, or increased folate use in the body (in pregnancy). Anaemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells for carrying adequate oxygen required to various body tissues.

Zolfer-XT Oral Suspension 150 ml is a combination of two drugs: Ferrous ascorbate (iron supplement) and folic acid (a form of vitamin B9). Zolfer-XT Oral Suspension 150 ml works by increasing red blood cells (RBC) and haemoglobin (a protein) production in the body. As a result, an adequate number of RBC is produced in the body, so that body's each tissue gets sufficient supply of oxygen.

Take Zolfer-XT Oral Suspension 150 ml as advised by your doctor. In some cases, you may experience vomiting, nausea, stomach upset or dark coloured stool. Most of these side effects of Zolfer-XT Oral Suspension 150 ml do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Directions for Use

Tablet: Take it with or without food as advised by your doctor and swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew or break it.Syrup: Shake the bottle well before use. Take the recommended dose by mouth using the measuring cup/dosing syringe/dropper provided by the pack.

You are not recommended to take Zolfer-XT Oral Suspension 150 ml with phenytoin as co-administration of these two medicines may reduce the concentration of Zolfer-XT Oral Suspension 150 ml in blood and increase the risk of seizures (fits). However, please consult a doctor before taking Zolfer-XT Oral Suspension 150 ml with phenytoin.

Zolfer-XT Oral Suspension 150 ml is not recommended for hemochromatosis (excessive iron in the body) patients as it may increase the risk of adverse effects. Therefore, it is advised to inform your doctor if you have any iron overload conditions before taking Zolfer-XT Oral Suspension 150 ml.
