Gorget 2% Gargle is an antiseptic and disinfectant used to treat and prevent sore throat and infections of the lining of the mouth and throat, such as gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) and mouth ulcers. It works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing microbes. Gorget 2% Gargle is also used in preparing the oral mucosa before any injection, dental surgery, or tooth extraction.

Gorget 2% Gargle is an antiseptic and disinfectant that inhibits the growth of infection-causing microbes. As a small molecule, Iodine in Gorget 2% Gargle can easily penetrate into microorganisms and oxidizes essential proteins, nucleotides, and fatty acids, leading to cell death.
The Povidone-iodine mouthwash/rinse/gargle is for oral use only. Do not swallow it. Please read the instructions leaflet carefully before using it. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration based on your condition.
Gorget 2% Gargle is not recommended for use if you are undergoing any lithium therapy or treatment involving radioactive iodine. Gorget 2% Gargle should not be used before or after radioiodine scintigraphy or radioiodine treatment of thyroid carcinoma. Gorget 2% Gargle may interfere with thyroid function tests due to iodine absorption. Please inform your doctor before starting Gorget 2% Gargle if you have any history of thyroid problems. Gorget 2% Gargle can also show false-positive lab results, such as tests with toluidine or gum guaiac, to determine haemoglobin or glucose in the stool or the urine.
Gorget 2% Gargle is not meant for long-term usage or routine use. Do not use Gorget 2% Gargle for more than seven days unless advised by a doctor.
Gorget 2% Gargle is intended for treating sore throat and infections associated with mouth and throat. Unlike other over-the-counter mouthwashes, it is not meant for use as a breath freshener.
Gorget 2% Gargle will not stain your teeth. The natural brown colour of Gorget 2% Gargle is due to its component, Povidone iodine. However, it may stain dentures and braces when used during dental treatment.
