LP-Mox Eye Drop Substitute
Uses:
Bacterial eye infections, allergic eye conditions.
Medicinal Benefits:
LP-Mox Eye Drop contains Moxifloxacin and Loteprednol etabonate. Moxifloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that acts against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It kills bacteria (bactericidal action) by preventing the synthesis of enzymes, namely DNA gyrase and Topoisomerase II and IV, which is essential for the growth and survival of the bacterial cell. Loteprednol etabonate is a corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory properties and acts by inhibiting the chemicals such as prostaglandins production (chemical messengers) that make the eye red, swollen, and itchy. It reduces symptoms associated with infection such as redness and irritation of the eye and decreases the risk of infections. Collectively, LP-Mox Eye Drop treats and prevents bacterial eye infections and eye inflammation caused by allergies, shingles, iritis (inflammation of the coloured part of the eye (iris), uveitis (inflammation of the middle layer of the eye (uvea), eye injury, radiation, and chemical burns.
LP-Mox Eye Drop contains Moxifloxacin and Loteprednol etabonate. Moxifloxacin is an antibiotic that prevents bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing the bacteria. Loteprednol etabonate, a corticosteroid, blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the eye red, swollen and itchy. Collectively, LP-Mox Eye Drop helps in relieving and treating symptoms of bacterial eye infections.
You are not recommended to stop using LP-Mox Eye Drop without consulting your doctor even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured. Therefore, use LP-Mox Eye Drop for as long as your doctor has prescribed it, and if you experience any difficulty while using LP-Mox Eye Drop, please consult your doctor.
If you are using other eye drops along with LP-Mox Eye Drop, maintain an interval of at least 10 minutes before administering other medicines in the same eye to avoid dilution.
LP-Mox Eye Drop is generally prescribed for 7 days. You should use this medicine for a duration prescribed by your doctor. Avoid prolonged use, as it may cause cataracts (clouding of the eye) and increase the second infection risk. If you use LP-Mox Eye Drop for longer than 10 days, you may need frequent vision tests to check the pressure inside your eyes.
LP-Mox Eye Drop can cause a blurry vision for some time in the beginning. Avoid driving and operating machinery in such cases until you feel better. If the effect persists longer, seek medical attention.
You are not recommended to wear contact lenses while using LP-Mox Eye Drop as it contains benzalkonium chloride, a preservative that changes the colour of contact lens as it may be absorbed by soft contact lens. Benzalkonium chloride also causes irritation in the eye especially if you have disorders of cornea (transparent layer at the front of eye) or dry eyes. Therefore, you are advised to remove contact lenses before applying LP-Mox Eye Drop and reinsert after 15 minutes of using LP-Mox Eye Drop. Also, inform your doctor if you experience pain, stinging or abnormal sensation in the eye after using LP-Mox Eye Drop.
