Composition:
METOPROLOL-50MG + TELMISARTAN-40MG
Uses:
Hypertension (high blood pressure).
Medicinal Benefits:
MP-Card-TS Tablet is a combination of two blood pressure-lowering medicines: Telmisartan and Metoprolol. Telmisartan belongs to the class of drugs called Angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It works by blocking the angiotensin II receptor, thereby relaxing the blood vessels and lowering the blood pressure. Metoprolol belongs to the class of drugs known as Beta-blockers. It helps to reduce blood pressure by allowing the blood to flow more smoothly. Together, MP-Card-TS Tablet helps in lowering blood pressure to normal.
MP-Card-TS Tablet contains telmisartan and metoprolol. Telmisartan works by blocking the angiotensin II receptor. Angiotensin II constricts the blood vessels, so by blocking its effect, telmisartan allows the blood vessels to relax and widen. Metoprolol helps to reduce blood pressure by allowing the blood to flow more smoothly. Together, MP-Card-TS Tablet helps in reducing the blood pressure to normal.
MP-Card-TS Tablet may cause a slow heart rate (bradycardia). A minor fluctuation should not be a worry, however, if slow heart rate continues and you begin to feel unwell, speak with your doctor.
MP-Card-TS Tablet may alter potassium levels. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are taking food rich in potassium such as potassium-containing salt substitutes or over-the-counter potassium supplements.
Please do not stop taking MP-Card-TS Tablet without consulting your doctor on your own as it may lead to rise in blood pressure. Continue taking MP-Card-TS Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it to you. Do not be reluctant to speak with your doctor if you experience any difficulty while taking MP-Card-TS Tablet .
Orthostatic hypotension could be a side-effect of MP-Card-TS Tablet . Orthostatic hypotension is a sudden lowering in blood pressure leading to dizziness on standing. If you experience this, do not try to stand up suddenly or start walking, instead lie down and get up slowly only when you feel better. People taking MP-Card-TS Tablet are advised to regularly monitor their blood pressure levels to avoid unpleasant events.
