About Aflox Eye Drop

Aflox Eye Drop belongs to the class of medicines called antibiotics used to treat bacterial eye infections including conjunctivitis and ulcers of the cornea. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is a common bacterial eye infection associated with the inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid. 

Aflox Eye Drop contains Ofloxacin which works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (bacterial enzyme) involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thereby, kills bacteria and clears infection.

Use Aflox Eye Drop as prescribed by your doctor. Aflox Eye Drop is only for use in eyes. You are advised to use Aflox Eye Drop for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience dry eyes, blurred vision, eye discomfort, eye redness, mild itching, or irritation in the eye. Most of these side effects of Aflox Eye Drop do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor. 

If you are allergic to Aflox Eye Drop or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Aflox Eye Drop should be used for children only in doses as advised by the doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before using Aflox Eye Drop. Drive only if your vision is clear as Aflox Eye Drop may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after using. You are advised to remove soft contact lenses before using Aflox Eye Drop. 

Uses of Aflox Eye Drop

Bacterial eye infections

Directions for Use

Aflox Eye Drop is for ophthalmic use only. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after using Aflox Eye Drop. Do not touch the container’s tip to the eye, eyelids, or surrounding areas as it may contaminate Aflox Eye Drop.Eye drops: Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Instil the number of drops advised by the doctor into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes. Replace the outer cap after use. Eye ointment: Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Squeeze a tiny amount of the ointment into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Sleep for a minimum of 6 to 8 hours to rejuvenate your eyes naturally.
  • Wash your eyes with clean water at least two to three times a day. Do not wash your eyes if you have undergone any eye surgery for at least 2 weeks. 
  • Manage stress, eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, and get plenty of sleep.

Aflox Eye Drop works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (bacterial enzyme) involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thereby, kills bacteria and clears the infection.

You are not recommended to wear contact lenses while using Aflox Eye Drop as it contains benzalkonium chloride, a preservative that changes the colour of contact lens as it may be absorbed by soft contact lens. Benzalkonium chloride also causes irritation in the eye especially if you have disorders of cornea (transparent layer at the front of eye) or dry eyes. Therefore, you are advised to remove contact lenses before using Aflox Eye Drop and reinsert them after 15 minutes after using Aflox Eye Drop. Also, inform your doctor if you experience pain, stinging or abnormal sensation in the eye after using Aflox Eye Drop.

Aflox Eye Drop may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after using. Therefore, you are recommended to wait until your vision is clear before driving or operating machinery.

Aflox Eye Drop is not used to treat fungal infection in the eye. Aflox Eye Drop is only used to treat bacterial eye infections.

You are not recommended to stop using Aflox Eye Drop without consulting your doctor as it may worsen the infection. Therefore, use Aflox Eye Drop for as long as your doctor has prescribed it and if you experience any difficulty while using Aflox Eye Drop, please consult your doctor.
