About Alpostadil Injection 1 ml

Alpostadil Injection 1 ml belongs to the class of medicine called vasodilators. It is primarily used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence, is defined as the difficulty of keeping a hard and erect penis that is firm enough and suitable for sexual activity. Symptoms may include less sexual desire, trouble getting and keeping an erection, and pain during intercourse. Alpostadil Injection 1 ml is also used as an adjunct to other diagnostic tests in the diagnosis of erectile dysfunction.

Alpostadil Injection 1 ml contains ‘Alprostadil, which belongs to the class of vasodilators. It works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis; and allows the blood to flow into the penis when the person is sexually excited. Thereby, it helps to treat erectile dysfunction.

Alpostadil Injection 1 ml may cause certain side effects such as pain or aching in the penis, breakage of the needle, burning sensation in the opening of the urinary opening of the penis, redness of the penis, and prolonged erection. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, if you experience these side effects persistently, consult your doctor immediately. Alpostadil Injection 1 ml should be administered as prescribed by your doctor. Before administration, read the label carefully.

Alpostadil Injection 1 ml should be avoided if you are allergic to it or other components present in it. This medicine is contraindicated in conditions such as sickle cell anemia or sickle cell trait, multiple myeloma, leukemia, cavernosal fibrosis, and penile implants, as it can lead to serious side effects. Alpostadil Injection 1 ml is only recommended for use in men; hence, the use of this medicine in women and children should be avoided. Inform your doctor if you have/had heart problems or stroke, low blood pressure or uncontrolled high blood pressure, liver/kidney and penile fibrosis. Alpostadil Injection 1 ml may cause dizziness, so avoid driving, as it can make you dizzy. Avoid consuming alcohol as it may cause increased dizziness and other unusual side effects. 

Uses of Alpostadil Injection 1 ml

Erectile dysfunction (impotence).

Directions for Use

Alpostadil Injection 1 ml is intended for the Intracavenosal/Urethral route only. It should be administered as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all the instructions provided in the leaflet or discuss the administration procedure with your doctor. How to use: Wash and dry your hands before administration. Remove the syringe and the needle from the wrap without touching it. Then remove the syringe cap, attach the needle to the syringe and turn it in clockwise. Now remove the vial cap and wipe the rubber stopper with alcohol swap. Later, remove the needle cover and push the needle into the diluent. Adjust the reading on the syringe and remove the liquid from the vail. Tap the syringe barrel to remove any air bubbles present. Now inject the liquid on the top view of the penis. Be careful while removing the liquid as there may be chances of breakage.

No, do not take Alpostadil Injection 1 ml with nitrates. Taking Alpostadil Injection 1 ml with medicines used to treat angina/chest pain, such as nitrates/nitroglycerin, may cause severe lowering of blood pressure. You are advised not to take Alpostadil Injection 1 ml if you are taking nitrates or have a history of heart attack/stroke.
