Bacigyl 100 Syrup 30 ml belongs to the group of quinolones antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It is indicated in the treatment of urinary tract infections, prostatitis (prostate inflammation) and gonorrhoea (sexually transmitted disease). Additionally, Bacigyl 100 Syrup 30 ml is used to treat infections of the stomach and intestine like traveller’s diarrhoea. 

Bacigyl 100 Syrup 30 ml contains Norfloxacin which inhibits the synthesis of an enzyme called DNA gyrase. Thereby kills the bacteria and treats bacterial infections. Bacigyl 100 Syrup 30 ml has a broad spectrum antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic bacteria.

Take Bacigyl 100 Syrup 30 ml as prescribed. In some cases, Bacigyl 100 Syrup 30 ml may cause common side-effects such as abdominal cramps, nausea, headache, and dizziness. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side-effects persist or worsen.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Bacigyl 100 Syrup 30 ml may interact with pain killers (aspirin, ibuprofen), anti-coagulant/blood thinner (warfarin), anti-gout (probenecid), antibiotic (azithromycin, sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim, metronidazole, nitrofurantoin, erythromycin), and calcium supplements (calcium/vitamin D).

Drug-Food Interactions: Avoid dairy products such as milk and yoghurt while taking Bacigyl 100 Syrup 30 ml as they might decrease the effectiveness of Bacigyl 100 Syrup 30 ml. Avoid consuming caffeine products along with Bacigyl 100 Syrup 30 ml as it might increase the effects of caffeine.
