About Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's

Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's belongs to a class of drugs called 'antidepressant' used to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, panic and anxiety disorder. OCD is a mental disorder with symptoms such as excessive thoughts or ideas (obsessions), leading to repetitive behaviours (compulsions). Depression is a mood disorder associated with symptoms such as sadness, unable to sleep properly or enjoy life as you used to do. Panic or anxiety disorder is linked to anxiety with sudden feelings of unnecessary fear or worries even when there is no danger in reality.

Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's contains Clomipramine which works by increasing the activity of serotonin and noradrenaline (chemical messengers) in the brain involved in regulating mood, behaviour and emotions. Thereby, Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's helps relieve depression, lighten the mood and relieve anxiety symptoms such as fear and panic.

Take Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's with food as prescribed by your doctor and swallow whole with a glass of water. Do not break, crush or chew it. Your doctor will advise you how often you take Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's based on your medical condition. Some people may experience dizziness, headache, drowsiness, dry mouth, nausea, weight gain, increased sweating, constipation, shaking, blurred vision, erectile dysfunction or difficulty in urination. Most of these side effects of Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's should be used with caution in elderly patients as there is an increased risk of low sodium levels in the blood.  If you have any self-harming or suicidal thoughts before taking Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's, inform your doctor as they may worsen in the initial days of taking Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's. Do not take Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) such as moclobemide, tranylcypromine and phenelzine used to treat depression as it may cause severe adverse effects. Also, avoid taking Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's with buprenorphine as it may cause a serious life-threatening condition. If you have fits, low blood pressure, mania, glaucoma, difficulty in urination, a blood disorder, hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland), severe constipation, pheochromocytoma (tumor of the adrenal gland), low potassium levels in blood, kidney, liver, or heart problems, inform your doctor before taking Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's.

Although there is an interaction, Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's can be taken with Bexarotene if prescribed by the doctor. Consult the prescriber if you experience symptoms of pancreatitis such as persistent nausea, vomiting, abdominal tenderness, and upper abdominal pain, especially that which is made worse after eating or radiates to the back. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor.

How does the disease interact with Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's:
Abnormal uterine bleeding: In patients who are not diagnosed with abnormal genital bleeding, Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's is contraindicated. Evaluate the patients for the presence of neoplastic lesions.

The use of Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's is contraindicated in patients with undiagnosed, abnormal genital bleeding.

Hepatic dysfunction: Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's is contraindicated for patients who have liver failure or a past history of hepatic dysfunction. The Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's is primarily metabolized in the liver and enters into enterohepatic circulation. Thus, there will be increase in serum concentration and half-life of Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's.

The use of Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's is contraindicated in patients with liver disease or history of hepatic dysfunction.

Pituitary activity: Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's is contraindicated for patients who have uncontrolled thyroid or adrenal dysfunction, or who have an organic intracranial lesion such as a pituitary tumour. Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's interacts with oestrogen receptors in several tissues, including the pituitary, causing a rise in pituitary gonadotropin secretion.

Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's is contraindicated in patients with uncontrolled thyroid, adrenal dysfunction or pituitary tumour.

Uncontrolled adrenal dysfunction : Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's is contraindicated in patients with uncontrolled adrenal function. Adrenal dysfunction can make pregnancy difficult. Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's therapy may cause changes in steroid production and/or fluid balance.

How does the disease interact with Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's:
Hyperlipidemia: Some patients who are on Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's therapy have reported hypertriglyceridemia. Preexisting hyperlipidemia or a family history of hyperlipidemia, Higher doses of Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's for a long period are related to an increased risk of hypertriglyceridemia. In this conditions, Monitor plasma triglycerides regular basis and also at base line before initiating the therapy with Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's.

How to manage the interaction:
Hypertriglyceridemia may occur during Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's therapy, especially in patients with a family history of hyperlipidemia and use of higher than the recommended dose and/or longer duration of treatment. Periodic monitoring of plasma triglycerides is recommended in patients with preexisting or family history of hyperlipidemia. Pretreatment screening of triglyceride levels is advised in patients initiating Clomidep 50 Tablet 10's therapy.
