Colospa 135 mg Tablet is a class of medicines called 'antispasmodic' (spasm and cramps reliever) agent primarily used to treat inflammatory bowel syndrome (IBS), stomach pain due to spasms, cramps, and bloating. Inflammatory bowel syndrome is an umbrella term describing complications that involve chronic inflammation of your digestive tract. Besides this, abdominal spasms are acute condition in which the abdominal muscles (abs), intestine, and stomach contract severely.

Colospa 135 mg Tablet contains ‘Mebeverine’ that works by blocking calcium channels and muscarinic receptors on the smooth muscle, which cause muscle contraction and pain sensation, thereby stopping sudden muscle contractions (spasms) and reducing abdominal pain caused due by spasms, cramps, and gas formation, bloating, and discomfort.

You are advised to take Colospa 135 mg Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical conditions. In some cases, you may experience skin rash. Most of the side effects of Colospa 135 mg Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor. Please inform your doctor immediately if you experience difficulty in breathing, or swelling of the face, neck, lips, tongue, or throat.

If you are known to be allergic to Colospa 135 mg Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Colospa 135 mg Tablet . Colospa 135 mg Tablet is not recommended for children and adolescents below 18 years of age. Inform your doctor if you have porphyria (an enzyme deficiency in blood), heart, kidney, or liver problems, and severe constipation.  This medicine contains lactose and sucrose, so inform your doctor if you have an intolerance to any sugars. Let your doctor know if you use any prescription and non-prescription medications you are taking, including vitamins, before starting Colospa 135 mg Tablet .

If you have had a history of acute porphyria (an enzyme deficiency in blood), heart disease, kidney disease, liver problems, and severe constipation, consult your doctor before taking Colospa 135 mg Tablet .  Let your doctor know if you use any prescription and non-prescription medications you are taking, including vitamins, and herbal drugs before starting Colospa 135 mg Tablet . This medicine contains lactose, so inform your doctor if you have an intolerance to any sugars. Colospa 135 mg Tablet also contains propylene glycol, which may cause alcohol-like symptoms, and the methyl parahydroxybenzoate which may cause delayed allergic reactions, mainly affecting the skin, inform your doctor immediately if you experience any allergic symptoms. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Colospa 135 mg Tablet . Colospa 135 mg Tablet is not recommended for children and adolescents below 18 years of age.

• Eat smaller meals more often.
• Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption. Alcohol intake leads to increased production of stomach acid, thereby increases acidity and heartburn.
• Maintain a healthy weight by regular exercising.
• Avoid carbonated and caffeinated beverages.
• Practice relaxation techniques and avoid stress by doing yoga or meditation.
• Avoid foods such as high-fat food, spicy food, chocolates, citrus fruits, pineapple, tomato, onion, garlic, tea, and soda. 
• Avoid deep-fried and spicy foods.
• Foods containing probiotics may help in providing relief from gas and bloating.
