About Colsprin 100 mg Tablet

Colsprin 100 mg Tablet belongs to the class of anti-inflammatory and blood-thinning/antiplatelet agents. Its use varies according to its strength. In a low dose (about 75 mg), Aspirin acts as a blood-thinning or antiplatelet agent used to prevent heart attack and stroke. On the other hand, in high dose (about 325 mg) acts as an analgesic, relieving minor aches, pains and fevers. Your doctor may also prescribe Colsprin 100 mg Tablet immediately after a heart attack to prevent further clots and heart tissue death. A heart attack generally refers to the blocked flow of blood due to blocked arteries. This blockage is due to the build-up of fat, cholesterol and other substances (plaque) in arteries.

Colsprin 100 mg Tablet plays a vital role in the thinning of blood by its anti-platelet activity to decrease the risk of blood clot formation and subsequent heart attack. Low-dose aspirin makes the blood less sticky, preventing the risk of heart attack and stroke. Besides this, it inhibits the activity of the cyclooxygenase (COX) and prostaglandins (PGs) that cause inflammation, swelling, pain and fever.

You can take Colsprin 100 mg Tablet with food or without food. It should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, bite, or break it. Your doctor will advise you how often you take your tablets based on your medical condition. Colsprin 100 mg Tablet can be given through oral and rectal routes. In some cases, you may experience stomach upset, heartburn, drowsiness, mild headache, ankle swelling (oedema), slow heart rate, and nausea. Colsprin 100 mg Tablet is known to cause dizziness, so driving should be avoided. Most of these side effects of Colsprin 100 mg Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

You should avoid drinking alcohol, taking painkillers (ibuprofen, ketorolac) and the abortion pill (mifepristone) with Colsprin 100 mg Tablet as together it can increase your risk of stomach or gastric bleeding. Colsprin 100 mg Tablet should not be given to children with flu, fever, or chickenpox until the doctor has prescribed it. Colsprin 100 mg Tablet can cause Reye's syndrome (a rare but serious condition with swelling in the brain and liver common in children and teenagers). Do not use Colsprin 100 mg Tablet during the last trimester of pregnancy due to possible harm to the unborn baby. Colsprin 100 mg Tablet passes into the breast milk and may harm the nursing infant. So tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning for pregnancy, or breastfeeding mother before taking Colsprin 100 mg Tablet . Many people using Colsprin 100 mg Tablet do not have serious side effects. However, tell your doctor if you have stomach upset, mild indigestion, easy bruising or bleeding, difficulty in hearing, ringing in the ears, dark urine, change in the amount of urine, persistent or severe nausea/vomiting, unexplained tiredness, dizziness, and yellowing of eyes/skin (jaundice). Colsprin 100 mg Tablet may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding (from the stomach/intestine), intracranial bleeding (bleeding in the brain) or other areas of the body. So, after consulting a doctor only, you should take Colsprin 100 mg Tablet .

ASPIRIN-100MGOther disorders of kidney and ureter, not elsewhere classified
Severe
How does the disease interact with Colsprin 100 mg Tablet:
The kidney is responsible for eliminating virtually all salicylate and its metabolites. Patients with renal impairment should receive therapy with salicylate medications carefully, especially if the impairment is severe. It might be required to use lower doses to prevent drug buildup. Since the use of salicylate medicines has seldom been linked to renal toxicities such as elevations in blood creatinine, renal papillary necrosis, and acute tubular necrosis with renal failure, clinical monitoring of renal function is advised during extended therapy.

How to manage the interaction:
Colsprin 100 mg Tablet should be taken cautiously if you already have reduced kidney function, as kidneys are mainly involved in eliminating Colsprin 100 mg Tablet and its metabolites.

How does the disease interact with Colsprin 100 mg Tablet:
Colsprin 100 mg Tablet's local action on the GI mucosa causes occult, frequently asymptomatic GI blood loss, which happens rather frequently when the medication is used as prescribed. This kind of bleeding might occasionally result in iron-deficiency anemia with persistent therapy. At typical dosages, other salicylates allegedly cause little to no GI blood loss, but large amounts may. Patients who have anemia or are at risk of developing it should use salicylates, especially Colsprin 100 mg Tablet, with caution. Hematocrit should be monitored often.

How to manage the interaction:
If you are anaemic or predisposed to anaemia Colsprin 100 mg Tablet should be used cautiously, in such case your doctor will monitor your haemoglobin levels.
ASPIRIN-100MGCare involving dialysis
Moderate
How does the disease interact with Colsprin 100 mg Tablet:
Hemodialysis and, to a lesser extent, peritoneal dialysis are also effective methods for removing salicylate and its metabolites. Either more doses should be given following dialysis, or doses should be scheduled for administration after dialysis.

How to manage the interaction:
Colsprin 100 mg Tablet and its metabolites are readily removed by hemodialysis and, to a lesser extent, by peritoneal dialysis. Therefore you are advised to take Colsprin 100 mg Tablet after a hemodialysis session
ASPIRIN-100MGAnaemia due to enzyme disorders
Moderate
How does the disease interact with Colsprin 100 mg Tablet:
Patients with pyruvate kinase or glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD) impairment may experience hemolysis as a result of salicylates, notably Colsprin 100 mg Tablet.

How to manage the interaction:
You are advised to take Colsprin 100 mg Tablet with extreme caution if you have a past history of pyruvate kinase or glucose- 6 phosphate dehydrogenase enzymes deficiency as they may cause or aggravate bleeding.
ASPIRIN-100MGToxic liver disease
Moderate
How does the disease interact with Colsprin 100 mg Tablet:
Serum transaminases, alkaline phosphatases, and/or bilirubin increases are the most common signs of acute, reversible hepatotoxicity associated with salicylate usage. A few patients have also reported experiencing liver damage consistent with persistent active hepatitis, which, in rare cases, led to dementia or death. In these patients, salicylate therapy, especially when given in large dosages, should be taken with caution, and routine liver function testing is advised.

How to manage the interaction:
If you have preexisting liver injury, active systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatic fever higher doses of Colsprin 100 mg Tablet should be taken cautiously as their use has occasionally been associated with acute, reversible liver toxicity. under such instances you will be periodically monitored for liver functions by your doctor.
ASPIRIN-100MGAsthma
Moderate
How does the disease interact with Colsprin 100 mg Tablet:
In patients who have previously experienced asthma, urticaria, or other allergic-type reactions after taking Colsprin 100 mg Tablet or other NSAIDs, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) are contraindicated; serious, occasionally deadly, anaphylactic reactions to NSAIDs have been recorded in such patients.

Disease/Condition Glossary

A heart attack occurs when the flow of blood to the heart is blocked due to the deposition of plaque (fat/cholesterol) in the arteries wall (coronary arteries) that nourish the heart. In some cases, plaque can rupture and form a blood clot that blocks blood flow. On the other hand, a stroke is a medical emergency condition in which blood supply to the brain is reduced or blocked, preventing brain cells (neurons) from getting sufficient oxygen and nutrients. As a result, brain cells begin to die in few minutes.
