About Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet

Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet belongs to the class of 'antidiabetic drugs', primarily used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus with a proper diet and exercise. Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet also lowers the risk of heart failure in type 2 diabetic patients with heart diseases. Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease that causes high blood sugar levels. It occurs when the insulin (a hormone produced by the beta cells of the pancreas) is resistant in breaking the glucose to produce energy (insulin resistance) or the pancreas (an organ behind the stomach) produce little or no insulin at all. Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet is not indicated for use in type 1 diabetes.

Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet is composed of two antidiabetic medicines, namely: Metformin and Dapagliflozin. Metformin belongs to the class of biguanides and manages blood sugar levels, particularly in obese patients. It exhibits a nonpancreatic effect to reduce blood glucose levels without increasing insulin secretion. Dapagliflozin belongs to the class of gliflozins. It works by reducing blood sugar levels by eliminating excess sugars from the body through urine.

Take Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet as advised by your doctor. Some common side effects of Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, weakness, runny nose, genital infection, dizziness, taste changes, and sore throat. Sometimes, Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet can cause side effects like lactic acidosis (a rare, but serious metabolic complication of excess lactic acid in the blood that is caused by metformin accumulation) and diabetic ketoacidosis (excess production of blood acids (ketones)). These side effects are not familiar to everyone and vary individually. If you notice any side effects that are not manageable, please consult your doctor.

Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet may cause hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar); hence it advised to take healthy food with enough calories and avoid heavy exercises. Do not take or stop this medicine, if the doctor did not advise you to do so. Before starting Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet , let your doctor know if you have any medical history of heart, kidney or liver diseases, breathing problems, blood disorders, dehydration, alcohol use, low blood pressure, and yeast infection of genitals. It is advised to avoid your alcohol intake while using Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet to decrease the risk of lactic acidosis. Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet is not recommended for use during the second or third trimester of pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Uses of Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet

Type 2 Diabetes mellitus.

Directions for Use

Swallow it as a whole with water; do not crush, break or chew it. Take it preferably with a meal since it lowers blood sugar levels and may cause gastrointestinal side effects. Your doctor may start the course with a low dose and gradually maintain an effective dose to achieve the required blood glucose control.

Medicinal Benefits

Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet treats type 2 diabetes mellitus and contains Metformin and Dapagliflozin. Metformin is a biguanide and manages blood sugar levels, particularly in obese patients. It exhibits a nonpancreatic effect to reduce blood glucose levels without increasing insulin secretion. It is also known as an insulin sensitizer as it increases the effects of insulin. Metformin is considered a unique antidiabetic drug since it does not cause hypoglycemia (lowered blood sugar levels). Dapagliflozin belongs to the class of gliflozins. It works by reducing blood sugar levels by eliminating excess sugars from the body through urine. Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet also reduces the risk of heart failure in patients with type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet may be advised with or without other medications along with diet and exercise to control blood sugar levels.

Side effects of Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet
Here are the precise steps to cope with diarrhoea caused by medication usage:
  • Inform Your Doctor: Notify your doctor immediately about your diarrhoea symptoms. This allows them to adjust your medication or provide guidance on managing side effects.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids to replace lost water and electrolytes. Choose water, clear broth, and electrolyte-rich drinks. Avoid carbonated or caffeinated beverages to effectively rehydrate your body.
  • Follow a Bland Diet: Eat easy-to-digest foods to help firm up your stool and settle your stomach. Try incorporating bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, plain crackers, and boiled vegetables into your diet.
  • Avoid Trigger Foods: Steer clear of foods that can worsen diarrhoea, such as spicy, fatty, or greasy foods, high-fibre foods, and dairy products (especially if you're lactose intolerant).
  • Practice Good Hygiene: Maintain good hygiene to prevent the spread of infection. To stay healthy, wash your hands frequently, clean and disinfect surfaces regularly, and avoid exchanging personal belongings with others.
  • Take Anti-Diarrheal Medications: If your doctor advises, anti-diarrheal medications such as loperamide might help manage diarrhoea symptoms. Always follow your doctor's directions.
  • Keep track of your diarrhoea symptoms. If they don't get better or worse or are accompanied by severe stomach pain, blood, or dehydration signs (like extreme thirst or dark urine), seek medical help.
Here are the steps to manage Gastrointestinal Air and Swelling (GAS) caused by medication:
  • Tell your doctor about your GAS symptoms. They may change your medication regimen or prescribe additional drugs to help you manage them.
  • To manage GAS symptoms, eat a balanced diet of fibre, vegetables, and fruits.
  • Drink enough water throughout the day to avoid constipation and treat GAS symptoms.
  • Regular exercise like yoga and walking may help stimulate digestion and alleviate GAS symptoms.
  • Take probiotics only if your doctor advises, as they may help alleviate GAS symptoms by promoting gut health.
  • Take medication for GAS symptoms only if your doctor advises, as certain medications can interact with your existing prescriptions or worsen symptoms.
  • If symptoms persist, worsen, or are accompanied by severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or bleeding, seek immediate medical attention.
  • Rest well; get enough sleep.
  • Eat a balanced diet and drink enough water.
  • Manage stress with yoga and meditation.
  • Limit alcohol and caffeine.
  • Physical activities like walking or jogging might help boost energy and make you feel less tired.
Here are the step-by-step strategies to manage the side effects of "indigestion" caused by medication usage:
  • Take medications with food (if recommended): It can help prevent stomach distress and indigestion.
  • Eat smaller, more frequent meals: Divide daily food intake into smaller, more frequent meals to ease digestion.
  • Avoid trigger foods: Identify and avoid foods that trigger indigestion, such as spicy, fatty, or acidic foods.
  • Stay upright after eating: Sit or stand upright for at least 1-2 hours after eating to prevent stomach acid from flowing into the oesophagus.
  • Avoid carbonated drinks: Avoid drinking carbonated beverages, such as soda or beer, which can worsen indigestion.
  • Manage stress: To alleviate indigestion, engage in stress-reducing activities like deep breathing exercises or meditation.
  • Consult a doctor if needed: If indigestion worsens or persists, consult a healthcare professional to adjust the medication regimen or explore alternative treatments.
  • Drink water or other clear fluids.
  • To prevent worsening of pain, limit intake of tea, coffee, or alcohol.
  • Include bland foods like rice, toast, crackers, and rice in your diet.
  • Avoid lying down immediately after eating as it may cause indigestion or heartburn.
  • Avoid acidic and spicy food as it may cause indigestion.
Dealing with Medication-Induced Headache:
  • Hydrate your body: Drink enough water to prevent dehydration and headaches.
  • Calm Your Mind: Deep breathing and meditation can help you relax and relieve stress.
  • Rest and Recharge: Sleep for 7-8 hours to reduce headache triggers.
  • Take rest: lie down in a quiet, dark environment.
  • Cold or warm compresses can help reduce tension.
  • Stay Upright: Maintain good posture to keep symptoms from getting worse.
  • To treat headaches naturally, try acupuncture or massage therapy.
  • Over-the-counter pain relievers include acetaminophen and ibuprofen.
  • Prescription Assistance: Speak with your doctor about more substantial drug alternatives.
  • Severe Headaches: Seek emergency medical assistance for sudden, severe headaches.
  • Frequent Headaches: If you get reoccurring headaches, consult your doctor.
  • Headaches with Symptoms: Seek medical attention if your headaches include fever, disorientation, or weakness.
  • Your doctor may adjust the dose of your medication, discontinue, or switch to alternative medicines to manage your symptoms.
  • Drink plenty of water and caffeine-free drinks.
  • Eat more fibre by consuming fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
  • Avoid processed, spicy, or fatty foods.
  • Try not to skip meals, delay eating, or eat too quickly.
  • Regular exercise can help improve digestion and promote better stool movement.

FAQs

Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet contains two antidiabetic medicines: Metformin and Dapagliflozin. These drugs lower the blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus by eliminating excess sugars through urine and also by increasing the activity of insulin.

Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet may cause low blood sugar levels (hypoglycaemia) and can make you hungry, dizzy, irritable, confused, anxious, or shaky. Hence, it is advised to take Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet with a meal. To immediately treat hypoglycaemia, it is advised to eat or drink fast-acting sugar sources like fruit juices, hard candy, raisins or non-diet soda.

Your doctor may advise Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet with or without other medications to control your blood sugar levels. However, it is advised to maintain a proper diet and exercise to achieve the controlled blood sugar levels while using Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet with or without other antidiabetic drugs.

Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet should be used with caution in heart, kidney or liver diseases, breathing problems (asthma, obstructive lung disease), blood disorders (anaemia, vitamin B12 deficiency), dehydration, alcohol use, low blood pressure, pancreas problems/surgery, and yeast infection of genitals. Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment and metabolic acidosis/diabetic ketoacidosis.

While using Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet , if you experience vomiting, stomach/abdominal pain, muscle cramps, sick feeling, severe tiredness, difficulty in breathing, or reduced body temperature and heartbeat, it is important to seek immediate medical help since these are the symptoms of lactic acidosis. Lactic acidosis is a rare but serious complication caused due to accumulation of metformin. It is a medical emergency and needs immediate treatment. Please consult your doctor for further information.

It is not recommended to use Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet along with water pills/diuretics. Simultaneous use of Daprica M 10 Forte Tablet and water pills causes dehydration and may increase the risk of lactic acidosis.

Take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose.
