About Eterna Injecton
Eterna Injecton belongs to a class of drugs called antiemetics used to prevent nausea and vomiting during chemotherapy. Nausea is a feeling of uneasiness of the stomach that often comes before vomiting. On the other hand, vomiting is the forcible voluntary or involuntary emptying of stomach contents through the mouth.
Eterna Injecton contains Ondansetron which works by blocking the action of serotonin, a chemical that stimulates the vomiting centre (chemoreceptor trigger zone – CTZ) located in the brain. Thus, it prevents nausea and vomiting.
Eterna Injecton will be administered by a healthcare professional. Do not self-administer. In some cases, Eterna Injecton may cause headache, constipation, a feeling of warmth or flushing, redness, and irritation at the site of injection. Most of these side effects of Eterna Injecton do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to Ondansetron, Palanosetron, Granisetron, or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Eterna Injecton should be given to children only in doses advised by the doctor based on the child’s body weight or body surface area. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, must inform your doctor before receiving Eterna Injecton.

Disease/Condition Glossary
Nausea and vomiting: Nausea is a feeling of uneasiness of the stomach that often comes before vomiting. On the other hand, vomiting is the forcible voluntary or involuntary emptying of stomach contents through the mouth. In short, nausea and vomiting are not diseases but are symptoms of many conditions like infections, motion sickness, an early stage of pregnancy, and gastroparesis (slow stomach emptying). A receptor located in the brain known as the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) controls vomiting.
