About Fosfocin 4gm Injection

Fosfocin 4gm Injection belongs to a class of drugs called antibiotics used in the treatment of bacterial infections. Fosfocin 4gm Injection is used to treat bacterial meningitis (infection of membranes protecting the brain and spinal cord), complicated urinary tract infections, bacterial infections of bones and joints, heart, lungs, central nervous system, stomach, blood, skin, and tissues below the skin. Bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grow in the body and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly.

Fosfocin 4gm Injection contains Fosfomycin which works by inhibiting the formation of the bacterial cell walls (a protective covering) that is necessary for their survival. Thereby killing bacteria. Also, Fosfocin 4gm Injection decreases the attachment of bacteria to cells lining the urinary bladder.

Fosfocin 4gm Injection will be administered by a healthcare professional. Do not self-administer. You may sometimes experience gastrointestinal disturbances, taste disturbances, or injection site reactions. Fosfocin 4gm Injection contains Fosfomycin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic that kills gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria that grow aerobically (in the presence of oxygen) and anaerobically (in the absence of oxygen). Bacterial meningitis (infection of the membranes that protect the brain and spinal cord), complicated urinary tract infections, bacterial infections of bones and joints, heart, lungs, central nervous system, stomach, blood, skin, and tissues beneath the skin are all treated with Fosfocin 4gm Injection. Fosfomycin should be used only when other antibiotics have failed or are ineffective. Fosfocin 4gm Injection prevents bacterial cell wall formation (a protective covering required for survival). Side effects of Fosfocin 4gm Injection

Taste Disturbance

Regularly brush and floss your teeth.
Rinse your mouth with water and baking soda a solution to neutralize acid in the mouth. This makes your food taste as it should.
Drink plenty of water or non-caffeinated drinks to prevent dry mouth which may lead to altered taste.
Try ginger, peppermint, fruit or green teas, lemonade, ginger ale or fruit juice to help mask unpleasant tastes.
Try sucking on sugar-free ice pops or ice cubes to prevent dry mouth.

Low Potassium Levels In Blood

Talk to your doctor about oral potassium supplements.
Eat potassium rich foods such as bananas, avocados, oranges, dark leafy greens, beans and peas, fish, spinach, milk and tomatoes.

Red Rash

Red rash caused by allergies is due to irritants or allergens. Therefore, avoid contact with such irritants.
Consult your doctor for proper medication and apply an anti-itch medication. Follow the schedule and use the medication whenever needed.
Protect your skin from extreme heat and try to apply wet compresses.
Soak in the cool bath, which gives a soothing impact to the affected area.

Inflammation Of A Vein At The Injection Site

Use a warm compress on the affected area to help reduce discomfort.
Elevate the affected limb above heart level.
Remove the IV catheter (if applicable) and reinsert at a different site.

Co-administration of the Cholera vaccine with Fosfocin 4gm Injection may reduce the activity of the Cholera vaccine.

How to manage the interaction:
If you are currently being treated with Fosfocin 4gm Injection or have been treated within the last 14 days, inform your doctor before receiving cholera vaccine, live. Avoid receiving cholera vaccine, live until at least 14 days after you complete your antibiotic therapy to ensure adequate vaccine response.

How does the disease interact with Fosfocin 4gm Injection:
Nearly all antibacterial medications have been associated with Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhoea (CDAD), formerly known as pseudomembranous colitis, which can range in severity from mild diarrhoea to deadly colitis. Lincomycin and clindamycin are typically to blame. Antibacterial treatment disrupts the colon's normal flora, promoting the growth of C difficile, whose toxins A and B contribute to the emergence of CDAD. When C difficile strains produce hypertoxins, morbidity and death rise; severe infections may not respond to antibiotic therapy and may necessitate colectomy. All individuals who get diarrhoea after taking an antibiotic must be evaluated for CDAD. Careful medical history is required because CDAD has been known to happen more than two months following antibiotic use. Broad-spectrum antibiotics and other medications with potent antibacterial properties should be used in therapy.

How to manage the interaction:
Fosfocin 4gm Injection should be used with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, particularly colitis (inflammation of the large intestine), pseudomembranous colitis (generally characterized by severe, persistent diarrhoea and severe abdominal cramps, and sometimes associated with the passage of blood and mucus).
