This condition can cause white vaginal discharge (often smelling like cottage cheese), irritation and itching around the vagina, stinging and soreness during sex or during urinating. Mild infections can be cured by taking an antifungal medication or applying an antifungal cream for one to three days. Infections that are more complicated necessitate long-term therapy.
