Kallistat Injection works by inhibiting the activation of coagulants. Thereby, Kallistat Injection prevents bleeding.
Kallistat Injection is prescribed when the doctor has decided that you will benefit from the treatment because you are at an increased risk of major blood loss as you will undergo a heart bypass operation using the heart-lung machine (circulation outside the body). Your doctor will prescribe Kallistat Injection only after careful consideration of the benefits and risks.
Kallistat Injection may raise the risk of kidney problems, and there may be a need for dialysis after surgery. This risk might be higher in patients with existing kidney problems or in people taking medicines that harm the kidneys, such as gentamicin. Therefore, inform the doctor if you have kidney problems.
