About Met XL AM 25/5 Tablet 20's

Met XL AM 25/5 Tablet 20's belongs to the group of antihypertensive agents used to treat high blood pressure/hypertension and angina pectoris. High blood pressure is a condition in which the blood exerts increased pressure on the walls of blood vessels. Angina is basically a pain in the heart and chest. 

Met XL AM 25/5 Tablet 20's contains Metoprolol succinate and Amlodipine. Metoprolol succinate works by slowing down the heart rate, thereby making it more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Amlodipine relaxes the blood vessels, thereby improving blood flow. Together, Met XL AM 25/5 Tablet 20's helps treat high blood pressure.

Take Met XL AM 25/5 Tablet 20's as prescribed. In some cases, Met XL AM 25/5 Tablet 20's may cause certain common side effects such as tiredness, dizziness, headache, ankle swelling and slow heart rate. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if these side effects persist or worsen.

Directions for Use

Take Met XL AM 25/5 Tablet 20's with or without food as directed by the physician. Swallow it as a whole with water; do not crush, break or chew it.

Medicinal Benefits

Met XL AM 25/5 Tablet 20's is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Metoprolol succinate and Amlodipine. It is used primarily to treat hypertension and to relax the blood vessels for seamless flow of blood. Metoprolol succinate is a beta-blocker that eases the symptoms of hypertension by blocking catecholamines that lead to increased pressure and heart rate. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that decreases blood pressure by preventing the influx of calcium ions into cells and by enlarging and relaxing arteries. In addition, Met XL AM 25/5 Tablet 20's also reduces the oxygen demands of the heart, relaxing the heart and blood vessels and requiring the heart to do less work.
