About Murinact Sachet 8 gm

Murinact Sachet 8 gm belongs to a class of drugs called 'antibiotics' used to treat or prevent bladder infections. Bladder infection is mostly caused by a bacterial infection within the bladder. Bacteria enter through the urethra and move into the bladder and cause infections.

Murinact Sachet 8 gm contains Fosfomycin, which inhibits the formation of the bacterial cell wall (a protective covering) necessary for survival. Thus, it kills bacteria. Also, Murinact Sachet 8 gm decreases the attachment of bacteria to cells lining the urinary bladder, thereby preventing bladder infection caused by E.coli bacteria. 

Take Murinact Sachet 8 gm as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Murinact Sachet 8 gm for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience dizziness, headache, indigestion, vulvovaginitis (swelling or infection of vulva and vagina) as side effects of Murinact Sachet 8 gm. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Please tell your doctor if you are allergic to Murinact Sachet 8 gm, some sugars or other medicines. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before taking Murinact Sachet 8 gm. Murinact Sachet 8 gm is not recommended for children below 12 years of age. Murinact Sachet 8 gm is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney problems and patients undergoing hemodialysis (a process of purifying blood by filtering out extra fluids and wastes when kidneys are not working). If you previously had diarrhoea caused by other antibiotics, inform your doctor before taking Murinact Sachet 8 gm.

Uses of Murinact Sachet 8 gm

Bladder infection

Directions for Use

Murinact Sachet 8 gm should be taken on an empty stomach, preferably before bedtime after emptying the bladder or take it as advised by the doctor. Dissolve the contents of the sachet in a glass of water, stir to dissolve and drink immediately. Do not use hot water.

Medicinal Benefits

Murinact Sachet 8 gm includes Fosfomycin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic that kills gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria that grow aerobically (in the presence of oxygen) and anaerobically (in the absence of oxygen). Murinact Sachet 8 gm prevents the formation of the necessary bacterial cell wall (a protective covering) for survival. As a result, it kills bacteria. Additionally, Murinact Sachet 8 gm inhibits bacterial attachment to cells lining the urinary bladder, preventing bladder infection caused by E.coli bacteria.

Side effects of Murinact Sachet 8 gm
  • Regularly brush and floss your teeth.
  • Rinse your mouth with water and baking soda a solution to neutralize acid in the mouth. This makes your food taste as it should.
  • Drink plenty of water or non-caffeinated drinks to prevent dry mouth which may lead to altered taste.
  • Try ginger, peppermint, fruit or green teas, lemonade, ginger ale or fruit juice to help mask unpleasant tastes.
  • Try sucking on sugar-free ice pops or ice cubes to prevent dry mouth.
  • Talk to your doctor about oral potassium supplements.
  • Eat potassium rich foods such as bananas, avocados, oranges, dark leafy greens, beans and peas, fish, spinach, milk and tomatoes.
  • Red rash caused by allergies is due to irritants or allergens. Therefore, avoid contact with such irritants.
  • Consult your doctor for proper medication and apply an anti-itch medication. Follow the schedule and use the medication whenever needed.
  • Protect your skin from extreme heat and try to apply wet compresses.
  • Soak in the cool bath, which gives a soothing impact to the affected area.
  • Use a warm compress on the affected area to help reduce discomfort.
  • Elevate the affected limb above heart level.
  • Remove the IV catheter (if applicable) and reinsert at a different site.
  • Consult your healthcare provider if symptoms are severe or persist.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Avoid alcohol, soda, coffee, tea, and artificial sweeteners, as they may cause bladder irritation.
  • Drink plenty of water or other fluids daily while taking Murinact Sachet 8 gm to flush out the bacteria.
  • Avoid spicy foods and citrus fruits (lemons, oranges, grapefruits) as they may irritate the bladder.
  • Eat foods antioxidant-rich foods such as blueberries, cranberries, tomatoes, spinach, broccoli, and plain greek yoghurt.
  • Take probiotics after completing the entire course of Murinact Sachet 8 gm to restore some good bacteria in the intestines that may have been killed. Taking probiotics after antibiotic treatment can reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Certain fermented foods like cheese, yoghurt, kombucha, sauerkraut and kimchi can help restore the intestine's good bacteria. 
  • Include fibre-rich foods, as they can be easily digested by your gut bacteria, which helps stimulate their growth. Thus, fibre-rich foods may help restore healthy gut bacteria after a course of antibiotics. Whole grains such as brown rice and whole-grain bread should be included in your diet.
