About Nor U 400mg Tablet

Nor U 400mg Tablet belongs to the group of quinolones antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It is indicated in the treatment of urinary tract infections, prostatitis (prostate inflammation) and gonorrhoea (sexually transmitted disease). Additionally, Nor U 400mg Tablet is used to treat infections of the stomach and intestine like traveller’s diarrhoea. 

Nor U 400mg Tablet contains Norfloxacin which inhibits the synthesis of an enzyme called DNA gyrase. Thereby kills the bacteria and treats bacterial infections. Nor U 400mg Tablet has a broad spectrum antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic bacteria.

Take Nor U 400mg Tablet as prescribed. In some cases, Nor U 400mg Tablet may cause common side-effects such as abdominal cramps, nausea, headache, and dizziness. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side-effects persist or worsen.

Inform your doctor if you experience pain in tendons, swelling, or inflammation as Nor U 400mg Tablet is associated with an increased risk of tendon rupture and tendonitis; this risk is higher in patients older than 60years, in people taking steroids, or who have had kidney, heart or lung transplant. Take Nor U 400mg Tablet on an empty stomach, i.e., one hour before food or two hours after food. Tablet/Capsule: Swallow it as a whole with water; do not crush or chew the tablet/capsule.Suspension/Syrup/Drops: Shake the bottle well before use. Take the prescribed dose by mouth using the measuring cup/dosing syringe/dropper provided by the pack.

Nor U 400mg Tablet may cause photosensitivity (sensitivity to sunlight) and can make you sunburn easily. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or tanning beds. Always wear protective clothing and sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher before going out.

It is recommended to complete the course of Nor U 400mg Tablet even if you feel better as it is an antibiotic, and leaving it in between may lead to even severe infection. To treat your condition effectually, continue taking Nor U 400mg Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it.
