Nupenzo Injection 40mg/2ml contains Flupentixol which works by inhibiting the dopamine (chemical messenger) receptors in the brain. Dopamine is involved in regulating mood, behaviour, and emotions. Thereby, Nupenzo Injection 40mg/2ml helps in controlling psychotic illness by preventing the overactivity of dopamine in the brain. Thus, it helps in improving feelings, disturbing thoughts, and behaviour.
Nupenzo Injection 40mg/2ml will be administered by a healthcare professional; do not self-administer. Some people may experience dry mouth, drowsiness, rigidity of the whole body, muscle spasms, headache, changes in weight, dizziness, insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), nervousness, or depression. Most of these side effects of Nupenzo Injection 40mg/2ml do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Nupenzo Injection 40mg/2ml may interact with heart-related medicines (quinidine, amiodarone, sotalol, dofetilide, digoxin), gastroprokinetic agent (cisapride), antimanic drug (lithium), antibiotics (erythromycin, moxifloxacin), tricyclic antidepressants, other antipsychotics, blood thinner (warfarin), medicines that make you feel drowsy, antiemetic (metoclopramide), antiparkinson drug (levodopa), appetite suppressant (sibutramine), antidiabetics, anticonvulsants, steroid (prednisolone), high blood pressure lowering medicines (hydralazine, doxazosin, guanethidine, methyldopa, clonidine) and hormone (epinephrine).
Drug-Food Interaction: Nupenzo Injection 40mg/2ml may interact with alcohol. Therefore, avoid intake of alcohol while taking Nupenzo Injection 40mg/2ml as it may increase drowsiness.
Drug-Disease Interaction: If you have fits, asthma, bronchitis, serious blood circulation problems, potassium or magnesium in the blood, enlarged prostate, phaeochromocytoma (tumor in the adrenal gland), glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye), high blood pressure, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, blood clots, cancer, myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness), have a family history of irregular heartbeats or blood clots, liver, kidney, heart or thyroid problems, inform your doctor before taking Nupenzo Injection 40mg/2ml.
Certain blood tests are recommended while taking Nupenzo Injection 40mg/2ml to monitor the level of Nupenzo Injection 40mg/2ml in blood if you have liver problems.
