About Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution
Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution belongs to the class of medicines called antibiotics used to treat bacterial eye infections including conjunctivitis and ulcers of the cornea. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is a common bacterial eye infection associated with the inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid.
Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution contains Ofloxacin which works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (bacterial enzyme) involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thereby, kills bacteria and clears infection.
Use Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution as prescribed by your doctor. Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution is only for use in eyes. You are advised to use Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience dry eyes, blurred vision, eye discomfort, eye redness, mild itching, or irritation in the eye. Most of these side effects of Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution should be used for children only in doses as advised by the doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before using Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution. Drive only if your vision is clear as Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after using. You are advised to remove soft contact lenses before using Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution. Do not touch the tip of the container to the eye, eyelids or surrounding areas as it may contaminate Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution and cause eye infections.
Diet & Lifestyle Advise
- Sleep for a minimum of 6 to 8 hours to rejuvenate your eyes naturally.
- Wash your eyes with clean water at least two to three times a day. Do not wash your eyes if you have undergone any eye surgery for at least 2 weeks.
- Manage stress, eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, and get plenty of sleep.

You are not recommended to wear contact lenses while using Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution as it contains benzalkonium chloride, a preservative that changes the colour of contact lens as it may be absorbed by soft contact lens. Benzalkonium chloride also causes irritation in the eye especially if you have disorders of cornea (transparent layer at the front of eye) or dry eyes. Therefore, you are advised to remove contact lenses before using Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution and reinsert them after 15 minutes after using Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution. Also, inform your doctor if you experience pain, stinging or abnormal sensation in the eye after using Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution.
Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after using. Therefore, you are recommended to wait until your vision is clear before driving or operating machinery.
Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution is not used to treat fungal infection in the eye. Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution is only used to treat bacterial eye infections.
You are not recommended to stop using Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution without consulting your doctor as it may worsen the infection. Therefore, use Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution for as long as your doctor has prescribed it and if you experience any difficulty while using Ofix-E Ophthalmic Solution, please consult your doctor.
