About Penflu 20mg Injection 1's

Penflu 20mg Injection 1's belongs to a class of medications called antipsychotics used to treat schizophrenia (a mental illness) and other psychotic disorders. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that affects the ability of a person to feel, think and behave clearly.

Penflu 20mg Injection 1's contains Flupentixol which works by inhibiting the dopamine (chemical messenger) receptors in the brain. Dopamine is involved in regulating mood, behaviour, and emotions. Thereby, Penflu 20mg Injection 1's helps in controlling psychotic illness by preventing the overactivity of dopamine in the brain. Thus, it helps in improving feelings, disturbing thoughts, and behaviour.

Penflu 20mg Injection 1's will be administered by a healthcare professional; do not self-administer. Some people may experience dry mouth, drowsiness, rigidity of the whole body, muscle spasms, headache, changes in weight, dizziness, insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), nervousness, or depression. Most of these side effects of Penflu 20mg Injection 1's do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Please tell your doctor if you are allergic to Flupentixol or other medicines. Penflu 20mg Injection 1's is not recommended for children and adolescents. Penflu 20mg Injection 1's should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years as there is an increased risk of adverse reactions. Using Penflu 20mg Injection 1's in the third trimester may cause adverse effects in the baby, such as breathing problems, muscle stiffness or weakness, shaking, etc. Penflu 20mg Injection 1's may be excreted in human milk.
