SPENZO DEPOT INJECTION 2ML belongs to a class of medications called antipsychotics used to treat schizophrenia (a mental illness) and other psychotic disorders. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that affects the ability of a person to feel, think and behave clearly.

SPENZO DEPOT INJECTION 2ML contains Flupentixol which works by inhibiting the dopamine (chemical messenger) receptors in the brain. Dopamine is involved in regulating mood, behaviour, and emotions. Thereby, SPENZO DEPOT INJECTION 2ML helps in controlling psychotic illness by preventing the overactivity of dopamine in the brain. Thus, it helps in improving feelings, disturbing thoughts, and behaviour.

SPENZO DEPOT INJECTION 2ML will be administered by a healthcare professional; do not self-administer. Some people may experience dry mouth, drowsiness, rigidity of the whole body, muscle spasms, headache, changes in weight, dizziness, insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), nervousness, or depression. Most of these side effects of SPENZO DEPOT INJECTION 2ML do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor. 

Please tell your doctor if you are allergic to Flupentixol or other medicines. SPENZO DEPOT INJECTION 2ML is not recommended for children and adolescents. SPENZO DEPOT INJECTION 2ML should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years as there is an increased risk of adverse reactions. Using SPENZO DEPOT INJECTION 2ML in the third trimester may cause adverse effects in the baby, such as breathing problems, muscle stiffness or weakness, shaking, etc. SPENZO DEPOT INJECTION 2ML may be excreted in human milk. Therefore, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, inform your doctor before taking SPENZO DEPOT INJECTION 2ML. Do not consume alcohol with SPENZO DEPOT INJECTION 2ML as it may increase drowsiness. Drive only if you are alert, as SPENZO DEPOT INJECTION 2ML may cause dizziness, blurred vision, or drowsiness.

• Do regular exercise and maintain a healthy body weight.
• Maintain a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains. 
• Follow a regular sleep pattern. Do not take a nap during day time. 
• Avoid watching tv, using mobiles or laptops just before bedtime.
• Avoid consumption of alcohol as it may increase drowsiness.
