About Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml

Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml belongs to the class of medicines called immunosuppressants used in the treatment of severe keratitis (inflammation of the cornea) in adults. Also, it is used to treat dry eyes in patients whose condition has not been improved with artificial tears. A dry eye is a common condition that occurs when tears are unable to provide sufficient moisture. 

Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml contains Cyclosporine, which works by increasing tear production and decreasing inflammation (swelling) in the eye. 

Use Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml as prescribed by your doctor. Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml is only for use in eyes. You are advised to use Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience eye irritation, eye pain, watery eyes, itching in the eye, redness or swelling of the eyelid, and blurred vision using Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Please tell your doctor if you are allergic to Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml or any other medicines. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult your doctor before using Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml. Avoid using Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml while you are wearing contact lenses. Drive only if your vision is clear, as Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after applying. Uses of Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml

Dry eyes and severe keratitis

Directions for Use

Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Instil the number of drops as advised by the doctor into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes. Do not touch the tip of the container to the eye, eyelids or surrounding areas as it may contaminate Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml. Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml is for external use only. Do not inject Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml.

Medicinal Benefits

Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml contains Cyclosporine, an immunosuppressant that increases tear production and decreases inflammation (swelling) in the eye. Thus, it is used in the treatment of severe keratitis (inflammation of the cornea) and to treat dry eyes in patients whose condition has not been improved with artificial tears.

  • To the affected part, apply warm compresses to get a temporary relief.
  • Rinse your eye carefully with clean water and try to blow any dust particle that could have entered.
  • Take over the counter medication to lubricate your eye or if there is pain due to allergy to soothe the eye.
  • If there is persistent pain in your eye, consult your doctor and follow the medication immediately.
  • Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet full of vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids to help maintain eye health.
  • Wear UV-protecting sunglasses when you are outside or in bright light.
  • Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes it may increase irritation.
  • Seek medical care if you are experiencing extreme eye pain or discomfort.
  • Your doctor might recommend eye drops to treat dry eyes, reduce inflammation, or stop irritation.
  • Use a cold, moist towel to relieve inflammation and discomfort.
  • Refrain from rubbing or touching the affected eyelid to avoid worsening the irritation.
  • Avoid allergens like pollen or pet dander that may trigger eyelid erythema.
  • Gently wash the eyelid with mild soap and water to prevent infection.
  • Drink lots of water to keep your skin and eyes moisturized.
  • Inform your doctor if you experience severe symptoms like intense pain, vision changes, or increased sensitivity to light.
  • Avoid rubbing your eyes, which can exacerbate the issue.
  • Lubricate your eyes using artificial tears or eye drops.
  • Wear sunglasses while you are out in the sun to protect your eyes from sun and wind.
  • Avoid irritants like smoke, dust, and strong chemicals.
  • Get enough rest and sleep to help your eyes recover.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

High potassium levels can cause hyperkalemia, which can lead to kidney failure, muscular paralysis, abnormal heart rhythms. If you are elderly, dehydrated, or have kidney disease, diabetes, or severe heart failure, you are more prone to develop hyperkalemia while taking these medications.

Taking aliskiren and Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion 30x0.4 ml will lead to an interaction, they can be taken together if your doctor has prescribed them. However, consult the doctor if you experience nausea, vomiting, weakness, disorientation, tingling in your hands and feet, feelings of heaviness in your legs, a weak pulse, or a slow or irregular heartbeat. It is important to maintain proper fluid intake while taking these medications. It is advised to reduce intake of potassium-rich foods such as tomatoes, raisins, figs, potatoes, lima beans, bananas, plantains, papayas, pears, cantaloupes, mangoes, and potassium-containing salt substitutes.
