About SAM AT 2.5MG TABLET

SAM AT 2.5MG TABLET belongs to a class of medicines called penicillin antibiotics. SAM AT 2.5MG TABLET is commonly used to treat various bacterial infections of the lungs, skin, stomach, and kidneys as well as sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhoea. A bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria enter the body, multiply and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiple very quickly.

SAM AT 2.5MG TABLET contains Ampicillin that works against various types of bacteria. It inhibits the process of bacterial cell wall synthesis that is required for its survival. Thus, SAM AT 2.5MG TABLET kills bacteria and prevents the growth of bacterial infection. 

SAM AT 2.5MG TABLET should be taken 30 minutes before food or 2 hours after food, on an empty stomach. SAM AT 2.5MG TABLET may cause certain common side effects such as injection site reactions, rash, vomiting, allergic reaction, vaginal itching, or discharge, nausea, and diarrhea. Most of these side effects are mild and subside over time. However, if these persist contact your doctor immediately.

SAM AT 2.5MG TABLET should be avoided if you are allergic to it, or other penicillin antibiotics. Also, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems. Pregnant and nursing mothers should consult a doctor before SAM AT 2.5MG TABLET treatment. Birth control pills may not work effectively while using this medication. So, speak to your doctor about using non-hormonal birth control to avoid pregnancy.

Directions for Use

Tablet/Capsule: Take SAM AT 2.5MG TABLET on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before or 2 hours after food to avoid stomach upset.Swallow SAM AT 2.5MG TABLET as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break, crush or chew it. Suspension: Before consuming shake the bottle well. It should be taken by mouth using the measuring cup provided with the pack.

Using Sam At 2.5mg Tablet together with dantrolene may increase the risk of hyperkalemia (high blood potassium).

Although taking Sam At 2.5mg Tablet with simvastatin can result in an interaction, it can be taken if a doctor has advised it. If you have unexplained muscular pain, soreness, or weakness while using simvastatin, especially if these symptoms are accompanied by fever or dark-colored urine, consult the doctor immediately. However, if you develop a fever, chills, joint pain or swelling, unusual bleeding or bruising, skin rash, itching, loss of appetite, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, dark colored urine, and/or yellowing of the skin or eyes, consult the doctor.   • Diarrhea may happen as a side effect. Taking probiotics after completing treatment with SAM AT 2.5MG TABLET may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice blood stools or develop stomach cramps.
  • Drink plenty of fluids to avoid an upset stomach and hydrate your body.
  • Avoid intake of alcoholic beverages with SAM AT 2.5MG TABLET as it can make you dehydrated and may affect your sleep. This can make it harder for your body to aid the SAM AT 2.5MG TABLET in fighting off infections.
