Satrogyl-300 Tablet belongs to a group of medicines known as antibiotics used to treat various infections caused by bacteria and parasites (amoeba). It is prescribed for the treatment of diarrhea. Additionally, it also treats vaginal and other bacterial infections. A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria enter, multiply, and infect our bodies. It can target any body part and multiple very quickly. Amoebic dysentery can be caused due to Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia lamblia, or Clostridium difficile.

Satrogyl-300 Tablet contains ‘Satranidazole’ that kills the harmful bacteria and parasites (amoeba) by damaging its DNA and preventing these bacteria growth spread hence relieving the symptoms. It is bactericidal and works by killing bacteria that cause infections. It prevents the division of bacterial cells and inhibits the repairing of bacterial cells. Altogether it kills the bacteria. Satrogyl-300 Tablet does not treat a viral infection like flu or a common cold.

Take Satrogyl-300 Tablet as prescribed. You are advised to take Satrogyl-300 Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as nausea, vomiting, headache, weakness, dizziness, dry mouth, and metallic taste. Most of these side effects of Satrogyl-300 Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

If you are allergic to Satrogyl-300 Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before using Satrogyl-300 Tablet . Satrogyl-300 Tablet should not be used in children unless prescribed by a doctor.  It is not advisable to suddenly stop this medicine to avoid unpleasant side effects and sudden withdrawal symptoms. Intake of probiotics, prebiotics, and plenty of fluids is recommended if you are suffering from dysentery and diarrhea. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery after taking Satrogyl-300 Tablet as it may cause dizziness, drowsiness, and make you less alert. You should not take any alcoholic beverages during your treatment as it can cause flushing and a general feeling of being unwell.

Satrogyl-300 Tablet contains 'Satranidazole’ is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Kills the harmful anaerobic bacteria and certain anaerobic protozoa (Trichomonas vaginalis, Entamoeba histolytica, and Giardia lamblia) causing diarrhea. Satrogyl-300 Tablet ; being bactericidal in nature kills the harmful bacteria by damaging its DNA and preventing these bacteria growth spread hence relieving the symptoms. Satrogyl-300 Tablet is two times more active than other nitroimidazoles like metronidazole against amoebiasis and giardiasis and anaerobes.

If you are allergic to Satrogyl-300 Tablet or any other antibacterial or anti-amoebic agents, please inform your doctor to avoid any unwanted side effects like swallowing or breathing problems, and swelling of your lips, face, throat, or tongue. Let your doctor know if you use any prescription and non-prescription medications you are taking, including vitamins, and herbal supplements before starting Satrogyl-300 Tablet . Do not take Satrogyl-300 Tablet on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before using Satrogyl-300 Tablet . Do not drink alcohol with Satrogyl-300 Tablet as it may cause flushing and drowsiness which can alter your mental alertness.

• If you have diarrhea try to drink appropriate amounts of fluids to avoid dehydration. 
• If you have minor diarrhea (less than four stools daily) drinking caffeine-free soft drinks, juices, or sport rehydration drinks can be sufficient. 
• If the diarrhea is more severe, specially formulated rehydration drinks should be taken.
• Do not drink or eat a lot of caffeine-containing products such as coffee, tea, energy drinks, cola, or chocolate. Satrogyl-300 Tablet may increase nervousness, sleeplessness, and anxiety caused by caffeine.
• Probiotics should be taken after taking the full course of Satrogyl-300 Tablet in order to restore some healthy bacteria in the intestines that may have been killed.
• Include more fiber-enriched food in your diet, as it can be easily digested by your gut bacteria, which helps stimulate their growth. Thus, fiber-rich foods may help restore healthy gut bacteria after a course of antibiotics.
• Whole grains like whole-grain bread, brown rice should be included in your diet. Make sure you drink plenty of water or other fluids every day while you are taking Satrogyl-300 Tablet .
• Avoid intake of alcoholic beverages with Satrogyl-300 Tablet as it can make you dehydrated and may affect your sleep. This can make it harder for your body to aid the Satrogyl-300 Tablet in fighting off infections.
