Tercan-M Gel 10 gm is a dermatological medication primarily used to treat fungal skin infections. It is used to treat various skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, ringworm, athlete's foot, jock itch, dermatitis, and tinea versicolor (lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs). Fungal infection occurs when a fungus invades and affects the tissue on the skin.
Tercan-M Gel 10 gm is a combination of two drugs, namely: Mometasone furoate (corticosteroid) and Terbinafine hydrochloride (antifungal). Mometasone furoate blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen, and itchy. Terbinafine hydrochloride works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane (a compound present in the fungi to maintain the cell integrity) and resulting in fungal cell death.
Tercan-M Gel 10 gm is for topical (for skin) use only. Your doctor will advise the appropriate dose that suits your infection. Tercan-M Gel 10 gm may cause common side effects like skin peeling, itching, irritation, dryness, redness, and burning sensation at the application site. These side effects usually do not require medical attention and fade away with time. However, if any of the side effects persist or worsen, please consult a doctor.
Let your doctor know if you are allergic to any of the contents in Tercan-M Gel 10 gm. If you are using any other prescription, non-prescription drugs, herbal, and vitamin supplements, please inform your doctor before using Tercan-M Gel 10 gm. Do not use Tercan-M Gel 10 gm on sensitive areas like nostrils, ears, lips, or genitals. Avoid dressing the infected areas after applying Tercan-M Gel 10 gm unless the doctor advised you to do so.
