Golcin Ointment 10 gm belongs to the class of ' Protectants and Antimicrobial agent' primarily used to treat burns, wound infections and bacterial skin infections such as impetigo. A burn damages the skin or deeper tissues caused by hot liquids, fire, electricity and chemicals. The degree of severity of burns is based on the size and depth of the burn. A skin infection can occur when the skin is broken, cut, or wounded. Impetigo is a highly communicable bacterial skin infection that causes red sores on the face.

Golcin Ointment 10 gm is a combination of two medicines, namely; Sucralfate and Mupirocin. Sucralfate is a protectant with anti-inflammatory properties which forms a coating over the affected skin surface. This creates a cytoprotective effect and forms a viscous, adhesive barrier on the surface of the infected skin. It stimulates the synthesis and release of prostaglandins and the epidermal growth factor which stimulates healing. On the other hand, Mupirocin works by inhibiting the production of essential proteins that are necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply and increase in numbers, thereby preventing the growth of bacteria.  Thereby, Golcin Ointment 10 gm kills bacteria and clears the infection, and reduces inflammation symptoms (burning sensation, irritation swelling, and pain).

Golcin Ointment 10 gm is for external use only. Apply Golcin Ointment 10 gm as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to apply Golcin Ointment 10 gm for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical conditions. In some cases, you may experience a burning sensation at the application site. The side effects of Golcin Ointment 10 gm do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Golcin Ointment 10 gm may not affect your ability to drive.

This promotes the healing of burns and wounds.

Golcin Ointment 10 gm is for external use only. Do not swallow the medicine. Do not use Golcin Ointment 10 gm, if you are allergic to Golcin Ointment 10 gm or other medicines. Do not take Golcin Ointment 10 gm for longer durations unless prescribed by your doctor as a second infection may happen. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive before using Golcin Ointment 10 gm. It is not known whether Golcin Ointment 10 gm passes into breast milk or not. It is advised to seek medical advice before using Golcin Ointment 10 gm if you are a breastfeeding mother. Avoid contact of Golcin Ointment 10 gm with nose, ears, mouth or eyes. In case Golcin Ointment 10 gm comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. Wear sterile disposable gloves if you apply Golcin Ointment 10 gm for others and keep the treated area clean to prevent further infection. Do not cover the affected areas with bandages or dressing after applying Golcin Ointment 10 gm if the doctor did not advise. Do not apply Golcin Ointment 10 gm in large amounts or use it for a long time than prescribed as it does not give quick or better results but increases the risk of side effects. 

• Cool down the burn immediately by placing it under running water or apply a cool and wet compress until the pain decreases.
• Remove any accessories like jewellery, belts and tight clothing you are wearing since burns can swell quickly.
• Consider getting a tetanus shot.
• Avoid harsh products on your skin.
• Do not scratch or pick your skin to avoid getting the affected area infected.
• Manage stress, eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly and get plenty of sleep.
• Do not walk barefoot at places like gym showers to prevent bacterial infections.

Please consult a dermatologist if your skin condition persists for more than 3 to 4 weeks.
