Ort Plus 200/500 Tab belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics used to treat urinary tract infections, bacterial infections by inflammation of the peritoneum, eye and ear infections, skin and soft tissue infections, sexually transmitted infections, respiratory infections, vaginal infections, protozoan infections, intra-abdominal infections, and infections during surgical procedures. It is also indicated in the treatment of diarrhoea of mixed infections in adults. Ort Plus 200/500 Tab is a combination of two antibiotic drugs, namely: Ofloxacin and Ornidazole. Ofloxacin inhibits DNA gyrase which is required for the replication, transcription, and repair of the DNA. Ornidazole inhibits protein synthesis and leads to cell death, thereby kills the bacteria. Together, Ort Plus 200/500 Tab helps in treating bacterial infections. Ort Plus 200/500 Tab is a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

It is recommended to complete the course of Ort Plus 200/500 Tab even if you feel better as it is an antibiotic, and leaving it in between may lead to even severe infection. To treat your condition effectually, continue taking Ort Plus 200/500 Tab for as long as your doctor has prescribed it.
Co-administration of magnesium and aluminium-containing antacids, sucralfate, and iron-containing preparations with Ort Plus 200/500 Tab may reduce the absorption. Therefore, you are advised to take Ort Plus 200/500 Tab two hours before such preparations.
Do not take Ort Plus 200/500 Tab on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic-resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections.
Consult your doctor before taking Ort Plus 200/500 Tab if you have diabetes, as Ort Plus 200/500 Tab may cause hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels). Regularly monitor blood sugar levels while taking Ort Plus 200/500 Tab to avoid unpleasant events.
