Etovel 100 Injection 5 ml belongs to a class of chemotherapy drugs used to treat various cancer conditions, including testicular tumours or cancer of the testicles, lung cancer (small cell lung cancer; SCLC). Besides this, it can also be used in treating Monoblastic leukaemia (AML M5) and acute myelomonoblastic leukaemia (AML M4). Cancer is a genetic change in which our cells divide uncontrollably and spread into surrounding tissues.
Etovel 100 Injection 5 ml contains Etoposide, which is a podophyllotoxin derivative. It works by inhibiting an enzyme responsible for cancer cell proliferation and induces cell death (apoptosis). As a result, the growth and spread of cancer cells are stopped or slowed down.
Etovel 100 Injection 5 ml will be administered by a qualified healthcare professional. Sometimes, Etovel 100 Injection 5 ml may use certain side effects such as myelosuppression (bone marrow activity is decreased), leucopenia (reduction in the number of white cells in the blood), thrombocytopenia (deficiency of platelets), anaemia (deficiency of red cells), anorexia (lack or loss of appetite for food), fatigue (extreme tiredness), drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, alopecia, liver and kidney functional impairment, leukaemia, hypotension, haemorrhage, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, stomatitis (inflammation of the mucous membrane), hepatic dysfunction and increased bilirubin levels etc. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
Inform your doctor if you are allergic or hypersensitive to any component present in the Etovel 100 Injection 5 ml or if you are pregnant, plan to have a baby or are breastfeeding. Before taking the Etovel 100 Injection 5 ml, inform your doctor about your medical history and ongoing therapies to rule out any potential adverse effects or interactions. Alcohol should be avoided during treatment with this medicine. You must not drive or operate machinery while receiving Etovel 100 Injection 5 ml.
Etovel 100 Injection 5 ml is a chemotherapeutic medication that contains Etoposide. It is primarily used with other medications to treat testicular cancer that has not improved or worsened after treatment with other medications or radiation therapy. Etoposide injection is also used in conjunction with other drugs to treat a certain kind of lung cancer (small cell lung cancer; SCLC). It can also be used to treat monoblastic leukaemia (AML M5) and acute myelomonoblastic leukaemia (AML M4). Etovel 100 Injection 5 ml acts by blocking an enzyme that promotes cancer cell proliferation and induces cell death (apoptosis). As a result, the growth and spread of cancer cells are halted or inhibited.
Etovel 100 Injection 5 ml is not recommended to use if you are allergic to etoposide, podophyllotoxines or podophyllotoxin-derivatives or any other ingredients of this medicine; If your liver is not working properly; If your bone marrow does not produce enough blood cells; If you are breast-feeding; If you have a weak immune system and you are being vaccinated against yellow fever at the same time. So, inform your doctor about your medical history and ongoing therapies. Etoposide can significantly reduce the number of blood cells in your bone marrow. Before and during your therapy, your doctor will prescribe laboratory testing on a regular basis. A decrease in the number of blood cells in your body might produce symptoms and raise your chance of developing a serious infection or bleeding. If you notice any of the following symptoms, contact your doctor immediately.
