Mecnurin Gold Capsule is a combination medication indicated for the management of neuropathic pain. Neuropathic pain is a chronic progressive nerve disease that causes nerve pain due to nerve damage or a malfunctioning nervous system. Symptoms of neuropathic pain include shooting, burning pain followed by tingling and numbness (loss of sensation). Neuropathic pain can be caused due to amputation of limbs, diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage due to excess blood sugar level), excessive alcohol intake (alcoholism) and cancer treatment via chemotherapy.

Mecnurin Gold Capsule contains Pregabalin (anticonvulsant), Methylcobalamin (vitamin B12), Alpha-lipoic acid (antioxidant), Pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), and Folic acid (vitamin B9). Pregabalin affects the chemicals in the brain that send pain signals to the nervous system, thereby relieving nerve pain and lowering the risk of seizures (fits). Drug-Drug Interaction: Mecnurin Gold Capsule may have interaction with antidepressants (amitriptyline, duloxetine), pain killers (codeine, morphine, tramadol), anti-convulsant (gabapentin, phenobarbital), anti-anxiety (diazepam), anti-diabetic (metformin), immunosuppressant (methotrexate), anti-rheumatoid (sulfasalazine), antibiotic (chloramphenicol), anti-cancer (altretamine), and anti-Parkinson’s (levodopa).

Drug-Food Interaction: Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking Mecnurin Gold Capsule as it might cause increased dizziness and sleepiness.

Drug-Disease Interaction:  Mecnurin Gold Capsule may have interactions with disease conditions, such as suicidal tendencies, angioedema, creatine kinase elevations, peripheral oedema, malabsorption, and anaemia.
