About Prulin Tablet
Prulin Tablet belongs to a class of drugs known as 'antibiotics' used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It helps treat infections of the urinary tract, tonsils, sinus, nose, throat, female genital organ, skin and soft tissues, and lungs (pneumonia). A bacterial infection is a condition in which bacteria grow in the body and cause infection. It can target any body part and multiple very quickly. Prulin Tablet does not treat infections caused by virus-like flu or a common cold.
Prulin Tablet contains 'Prulifloxacin' used to treat bacterial infections. The bactericidal action of Prulin Tablet results from interference with the enzyme DNA gyrase which is needed for the synthesis of bacterial DNA (genetic material). Prulifloxacin is efficacious against Gram-negative bacteria. It also has enhanced activity against Gram-positive bacteria, including MRSA and Streptococcus pneumoniae.
Take Prulin Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Prulin Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending upon your medical condition. You may experience vomiting, headache, dizziness, stomach pain, nausea, diarrhoea, and abnormal liver function tests in some cases. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor. If you experience any allergic reaction symptoms such as rashes, itching, swelling, or shortness of breath immediately contact a doctor.
Do not take Prulin Tablet if you are allergic or have had a severe reaction to Prulin Tablet. Taking Prulin Tablet may increase the chances of developing tendinitis or have a tendon rupture. Taking Prulin Tablet may worsen muscle weakness in people with myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness disorder) and cause severe difficulty breathing or death. Dairy products should be avoided along with Prulin Tablet. And also, exposure to sunlight should be avoided while taking Prulin Tablet as it may cause increased phototoxicity or photosensitivity. Do not take Prulin Tablet on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic-resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections. And also, if prescribed by your doctor Prulin Tablet is safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Prulin Tablet belongs to the group of medicines called fluoroquinolone antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections, including infections of the urinary tract, tonsils, sinus, nose, throat, sexually transmitted infections, soft tissue infection and lungs (pneumonia). Prulin Tablet contains Prulifloxacin, the prodrug of ulifloxacin, is a broad-spectrum activity with bactericidal action (kills bacteria) that works by preventing synthesis of enzymes, namely DNA gyrase and Topoisomerase IV, which is essential for growth and survival of the bacterial cell. Prulin Tablet has a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity against aerobic gram-positive and aerobic gram-negative bacteria (that live in oxygen). Prulin Tablet does not treat infections caused by virus-like flu or a common cold.
Storage
- Drink water or other clear fluids.
- To prevent worsening of pain, limit intake of tea, coffee, or alcohol.
- Include bland foods like rice, toast, crackers, and rice in your diet.
- Avoid lying down immediately after eating as it may cause indigestion or heartburn.
- Avoid acidic and spicy food as it may cause indigestion.
- Practice breathing exercises to improve lung efficiency along with the medical treatment advised by your healthcare professional.
- Avoid smoking or inhaling any products that cause damage to lungs.
- Drink hot herbal tea and hot foods that make you feel comfortable. Avoid refrigerated foods to get relief from wheezing.
- Use air purifiers or humidifiers to improve the air quality and stay away from allergy triggers that worsen your health condition.
- Relieve inflammation with cool compresses, oatmeal baths, and fragrance-free moisturizers.
- Wear loose, breathable clothing and keep nails trimmed to minimise irritation.
- Use over-the-counter treatments like calamine lotion for relief.
- Identify and avoid triggers like new soaps, detergents, or foods.
- Seek medical help if the rash is severe, spreading, persistent, or accompanied by fever, swelling, or difficulty breathing.
- Inform Your Doctor: Notify your doctor immediately about your diarrhoea symptoms. This allows them to adjust your medication or provide guidance on managing side effects.
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids to replace lost water and electrolytes. Choose water, clear broth, and electrolyte-rich drinks. Avoid carbonated or caffeinated beverages to effectively rehydrate your body.
- Follow a Bland Diet: Eat easy-to-digest foods to help firm up your stool and settle your stomach. Try incorporating bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, plain crackers, and boiled vegetables into your diet.
- Avoid Trigger Foods: Steer clear of foods that can worsen diarrhoea, such as spicy, fatty, or greasy foods, high-fibre foods, and dairy products (especially if you're lactose intolerant).
- Practice Good Hygiene: Maintain good hygiene to prevent the spread of infection. To stay healthy, wash your hands frequently, clean and disinfect surfaces regularly, and avoid exchanging personal belongings with others.
- Take Anti-Diarrheal Medications: If your doctor advises, anti-diarrheal medications such as loperamide might help manage diarrhoea symptoms. Always follow your doctor's directions.
- Keep track of your diarrhoea symptoms. If they don't get better or worse or are accompanied by severe stomach pain, blood, or dehydration signs (like extreme thirst or dark urine), seek medical help.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
- Limit salty foods to reduce sodium intake and minimize water retention.
- Eat anti-inflammatory foods like berries, leafy greens, tomatoes, nuts, and fish.
- Incorporate potassium-rich foods like bananas, avocados, sweet potatoes, and spinach.
- Limit alcohol to minimize dehydration and fluid retention.
- Get 7-9 hours of restful sleep each night.
- Elevate your head while sleeping to reduce fluid accumulation and alleviate swollen eyelids.
- Apply cold compresses to reduce swelling and soothe irritated skin.
- Manage allergies by minimizing exposure to allergens and using antihistamines or allergy eye drops.
- Practice gentle eye massage to stimulate circulation and reduce fluid retention.
- Avoid rubbing your eyes to prevent irritation and worsening inflammation.
- Reduce stress through relaxation techniques like meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises.
- Consult a doctor if swollen eyelids persist, worsen, or are accompanied by pain.
Drug Warnings
Prulin Tablet should be avoided if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant and breastfeeding unless your doctor prescribed it. Taking Prulin Tablet may increase the chances of developing tendinitis (swelling of a fibrous tissue that connects a bone to a muscle) or have a tendon rupture (tearing of a fibrous tissue that connects a bone to a muscle). Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had a kidney or liver disease, heart or lung transplant, seizures (fits), epilepsy or if you participate in regular physical activity. Taking Prulin Tablet may worsen muscle weakness in people with myasthenia gravis (a nervous system disorder that causes muscle weakness) and cause severe difficulty breathing or death. Patients with epilepsy and irregular heartbeat (especially a condition known as QT prolongation) should tell their doctor before taking Prulin Tablet. Dairy products should be avoided along with Prulin Tablet. And also, exposure to sunlight should be avoided while taking Prulin Tablet as it may cause increased phototoxicity or photosensitivity.

- Probiotics should be taken after taking the full course of Prulin Tablet to restore some healthy bacteria in the intestines that may have been killed. Taking probiotics after antibiotic treatment can reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. Certain fermented foods like yogurt, cheese, sauerkraut, kombucha, and kimchi can help restore the intestine's good bacteria.
- Include more fiber-enriched food in your diet, as it can be easily digested by your gut bacteria, which helps stimulate their growth. Thus, fiber-rich foods may help restore healthy gut bacteria after a course of antibiotics. Whole grains like whole-grain bread and brown rice should be included in your diet. Make sure you drink plenty of water or other fluids every day while you are taking Prulin Tablet.
- Avoid alcohol, soda, coffee, tea, and artificial sweeteners as they may cause bladder irritation.
- Drink plenty of water to flush out the bacteria.
- Avoid spicy foods and citrus fruits (lemons, oranges, grapefruits) as they may irritate the bladder.

- During treatment and after 48 hours of discontinuation of treatment with Prulin Tablet, limit exposure to heavy sunlight or artificial UV rays (e.g. sunlight).

- Monitor liver function test (LFT), renal function test, white blood cell count, blood glucose level in diabetic patients as Prulin Tablet may cause harmful interactions in these patients.
