About Fixi-AB-Plus Tablet

Fixi-AB-Plus Tablet belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections. Fixi-AB-Plus Tablet is indicated in the treatment of gastrointestinal infections, urinary tract infections, otitis media (infection of the middle ear), meningitis (inflammation of the meninges), SSTI (skin and soft tissue infections), pneumonia, typhoid fever, post-operative surgery infections, and septicemia (blood poisoning caused by bacteria).
 
Fixi-AB-Plus Tablet is a combination of three drugs, namely: Cefixime, ofloxacin, and lactic acid bacillus. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell covering, which is necessary for the survival of the bacteria. Ofloxacin prevents the bacteria from repairing and reproducing. Thus, kills the bacteria. Lactic acid bacillus is a probiotic that helps restore the balance of good bacteria in the gut, which may have gotten upset due to the infection. Together, Fixi-AB-Plus Tablet helps in treating bacterial infections. 
 
Take Fixi-AB-Plus Tablet as prescribed. The dose and duration of Fixi-AB-Plus Tablet can vary depending on your condition and the severity of the infection. In some cases, Fixi-AB-Plus Tablet may cause certain common side-effects such as nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, flatulence, and indigestion. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

  • Eat fibre-rich food like whole grains, beans, lentils, berries, broccoli, peas, and bananas.
  • Avoid foods rich in calcium, grapefruit, and grapefruit juice as they might hinder the absorption of antibiotics.
  • Avoid consumption of alcohol and usage of tobacco.

Fixi-AB-Plus Tablet is less likely to cause diarrhoea as it contains lactic acid bacillus, a probiotic which helps in restoring the balance of good bacteria in the gut which may have gotten upset due to infection. However, if you experience diarrhoea, drink plenty of fluids and eat non-spicy food. Consult your doctor if you have severe diarrhoea.

Do not take Fixi-AB-Plus Tablet on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections. Take Fixi-AB-Plus Tablet only if prescribed by the doctor.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take the scheduled dose instead. Avoid taking a double dose.
